I think this adage puts it best: You reap what you sow. If the NSA hadn't so deeply and fundamentally violated our personal privacies in addition to US and International law, I don't think we'd even need to have this conversa

Love it. My wife admonishes me every night that I need to work less and relax more. She says that the key to productivity is giving your brain time to relax. If all you do is work, you never give your mind a chance to absorb the knowledge y

Yeah - why should a user switch over from Pathogen or Vundle? I'm not trying to be a jerk -- just suggesting that that explanation is probably worth giving.

This article is _fantastic_. Nailed Steve Jobs, as I remember him anyhow. The presentation that Apple gave sounded a lot like something you would hear from Google, not Apple, in my opinion. Too many options, too many stats. Not concise. Not

I don't really think I'd accept this unless I had no other job prospects or I really wanted to work at the place I was interviewing/'testing' at.

This story really irks me but honestly its not like cheating in developing countries like India and China is anything new.

As a Chicagoan who worked in another closely related telecom company, the presence of Motorola was huge. Not so anymore, but its certainly a 'hallowed' name in the area. You definitely hear a lot of stories regarding the way bon

Sorry, but just about every time gender and India comes up in the news its because of how poorly women are being treated in India and how often the courts look the other way. Really having trouble imagining that this article is grounded in

I hate to be that person, but I would recommend something smaller. I think you'll learn more and get to really own your project(s). I realize that you already have offers though, so between the two, I vote Facebook every time. You won&

This doesnt seem to work for me in Chrome 36.0.1985.143! But I opened up FireFox and it looks really cool. I love the search ability. That could be awesome for video tutorials. "Ok I already know how to do X, Y, Z, but I want to jump t

Really pretty neat especially if your tool might be used by less technical folks. I can't count the number of times people in our engineering department have given non-technical people in our company a command line tool because its eas

I enjoy that the conclusion is essentially that they all have great features and pain points. I personally like Angular, but I know a number of developers successfully using Backbone.

Thanks for the very informative post. I've been a full-time Python developer for only the past 7 or 8 months now. I had not in that time learned about the slot system or the CPython implementation. Also, <3 Flask. So good.

I really enjoyed this article. I think I personally prefer the struct return. It's explicit, if maybe a tiny bit wasteful of memory. Certainly there will be people whom this affects, but I think its good overall.

Based on the mailing list exchanges this sounds like a fairly contentious topic still. It's possible it will happen, but maybe not for another few releases.

Yeah, I agree with this. I think when I posted this I was fairly caught up in my ongoing frustration with this issue. That being said, I'm a developer in my 20s. I wasn't around when a lot of this was actually happening. For the m

Technically, no. But recall that there are many packages that build on libav* or libsw* that could/should also be on ffmpeg which is, as noted elsewhere in this discussion, a safer, more capable build.

It frankly frustrates me that Debian/Canonical ever used libav to begin with. ffmpeg is and has been the better of the two for quite awhile. The person in this thread arguing against inclusion of ffmpeg would probably be astonished by

Nothing but excuse after excuse. You have 30 minutes a day to exercise. You have the option to buy healthy foods no matter how much you do or do not make. My dad had his thyroid removed after cancer and runs his own business and he found a

If you're going to go this direction wouldn't it make more sense to just upstart another script that runs your scripts? How much time and code does this actually save?
