I'm sorry, but you are unfortunately wrong. Some colleagues are involved in the development of a vending machine that does all those nasty things. And I think there are similar products already deployed.

Have a look to the UDOO x86, which is made by SECO. (disclosure: i do some work for them)

Given how easy the markdown specs are, it is unbelievable how different the text is rendered using different engines.

Look at the form, they ask for you are you working, in which departments, etc.. It is just silly!

You are right in the first part (I'm italian). Regarding people doing a good job, I don't know if this is the case. I tried to use this service (just to see how it works), and: - "anonymous reports will be considered only

It's just a bootloader. I don't think they changed much between iOS 9 and 11. The probably only added support for newer boards/devices.

No no no. I am stating that, while TLS is good , your device will use other unprotected connections too (both on LAN and WAN) unless something else is done. until bugs or weaknesses are found, see SSL v1/2/3 deprecation, heartb

If you connected an IoT device in the same network of an infected PC, the infected PC can talk to the IoT device directly if you do not block traffic somehow (eg. a firewall). Are there open ports with buggy services? Probably not today, wh

I'm on a different team, AFAIK we where using simple JSON payloads on websocket connections. Dropping websockets and switching to MQTT saved a lot of bandwidth. I can ask for precise numbers or details if you wish.

So true. We switched to MQTT (abandoning websockets and other protocols) to save (a lot of) network bandwidth.

I'm not sure what the original commenter meant; however TLS is useful only when talking with your own server. What about other connections? NTP, DNS etc are all unencrypted (read: unsigned). Google "DNS client CVE" for instan

Embedded systems. Smaller images take less time to be written on SD/eMMC devices.

That's an edge case. Asserting that boot is typically 20 times faster is misleading.

With such deep networks, I think it would be hard to get 3-5 FPS on an Intel iX; forget the Raspberry PI CPU!

Nice! I will try it. Did you test the inference on Intel GPUs?

Unfortunately there is no binary compatibility between modules and different kernels. Moreover Google recommends CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y, which prevents to load even practically compatible modules.

All the ARM boards i know share our same kernel issues. The problem is that DT is basically a configuration, which is accessed by drivers. If a driver do not read it, you must edit the driver. For instance a 2 lines patch [1] is about the f

I do not think it can be done. I am mantaining a kernel for ARM a family of SBCs. Device trees are great compared to old platform files, however they are not enough. We have a lot of commits to fix other things that DT cannot access.

I do some OSS development for UDOO, which sells iMX6 SBC (6Q, 6D, 6SX). We currently offer Android 6, I started to build 7.1 a few days ago. Intro end, question is, did you compare the performance between Vivante and OSS stuff?

Have you considered UDOO x86? It exposes GPIOs from an Intel braswell CPU and a microcontroller. (Disclosure: I do some software development for UDOO)

If someone is interested in creating animations in this way, I created a simple script which converts videos in PNG/JSON/canvas: http://blog.webmatters.it/2012/09/canvas-rocks-video-sucks/
