We have really similar stories. I'm 32, never used drugs (since other comments were asking for that). It's really hard to explain to the people why you do not remember something, they will just assume that you do not remember beca

That's not for Nissan only, it is quite standard for an automotive company to get software components from tens of partners.

The only one that I have built (for Linux on arm64) is mDNSresponder. It is a required component for CarPlay. I don't know if other Apple open source code runs on Linux (for real, not for tinkering).

If that's possible, why should not binaries be small (without too many downsides, eg execution speed) by default?

You are right, and that unfortunately happened because nobody even tried to read the law (which is quite clear regarding this). It's easier to just follow other sheep.

Sometimes I need to create a small GUI application for my Windows colleagues. Using Qt or .NET I get huge binaries/dependencies. What is the final binary size (all deps included) with your solution for a "hello world" GUI exe

Installer.app was awesome. I remember the first App Store release, it was sooooo similar :) Do you have any anecdote or story to share about Installer.app or more in general the iOS 1.0 era?

Oh, my car had¹ an infotainment system based on Windows for Automotive. It even included the .NET runtime! It was fun to reverse it and.. to reimplement the ECU using a Linux board.

UBoot is not generally stored in boot ROM. The boot ROM loads the UBoot binary from somewhere (eg. eMMC, SD, etc) to some RAM, and jumps there. In case of in place execution, that is not ROM anyway. You may XIP from a NOR memory, but that i
