I don't consider myself a "fanboy" of any company, but companies that I admire greatly for the quality of their products and their passion include Apple, Oakley and Nau clothing.

The project I work on has about 500-750KLOC and over a thousand files and after the initial index (about 20-30 seconds, which is UI blocking) the subsequent Find In Project calls take only a few seconds. This is on a 27" iMac Core 2 Duo.

My favorite features (that I've only seen implemented half as well in every other editor) is the pop-up Go To File dialog where I can start typing a file's name and it'll find the file in the open project, and the Go To Symbol dialog where

The author has been doing some really innovative stuff with CSS3 and declarative styles/animations for awhile now so I don't see the problem with these experiments. They're fun, they teach new things, and they're given away for free. Where'

I'm working on a series of tutorials that teach web designers how to take their skills to the iPhone and iPad and start building native iOS apps. Each tutorial will go through the full process of designing one screen of a fictional app in P

He was doing a lot more than just living off it, Tweetie was the #1 Paid App for a long time and was in the Top 10 for all Paid Apps for months. He was selling thousands of copies per day for $2.99.

He'll be making capital gains money, not income, so this move will not help him. (I had the same thought re: the move but was corrected on Twitter by a friend who sold his startup - Newsvine - and lives in Seattle.)

You're totally right. I'd probably extend it upwards a year or two, but I completely agree. 99-cent apps, made for younger people. Entertain someone for a few minutes, make them smile, make just a tiny bit of their day more enjoyable: those

"If it has more features, it is better and deserves more." Perhaps you're not a mobile developer. Mobile apps are about focused user experiences. Tight features that make sense within the context of the app. You wouldn't drop a crossword pu

As an iPhone/iPad developer, the thing that pisses me off the most is when users leave a low rating and say "when you implement <feature no one cares about> I'll move it up to 5 stars." This happens all the time. It's blackmail but

Scrolling on an Evo or a Droid X is choppy, especially on a large webpage (zooming in and out as well). It's incredibly noticeable when comparing the most high-end Android devices next to an iPhone 4. If this isn't a priority, I don't kno

The little things add up. A few pixels here, a broken alignment there, they make the overall design look unkempt. If it's egregious enough it makes things look sloppy. It may not seem like a big deal, but getting things pixel-precise makes

FWIW I think saying "doing a startup" sounds pretty childish. Why not say that you're starting a company? "Doing a startup" sounds like you're just messing around with a concept, testing the waters. "Starting a company" makes you look more

The motives may be complex but I'm guessing it comes down to Apple not wanting garbage clunking up their beautiful and "magical" device. Random runtime environments that Apple can't control? Hell no. Cross-platform apps that use the lowest
