They can easily write an application that uses in-app purchases to allow the user to purchase (each week, or month) the next issue. What can the issue be? Well, that's simple, it can be HTML (5 if you want, or anything else) and then it can

If people are in the market (or simply want) a tablet-sized computing device, they're going to have the iPad at the front of their mind. If they play with one at an Apple Store or at a friend's house and aren't convinced (or are pissed it d

Non-technical responses, lots of dodging and hand-waving, saying things are a smokescreen without rebutting direct points. Very, very bad move for Adobe. Why would they want to get into a pissing contest with Apple and let Jobs control the

The point is that if you build your application correctly no one will even notice it's not a Cocoa app. Take the iTunes App Store for instance. Nearly the entire application is a Webview, the AppKit equivalent of stuffing a Safari window in

Gizmodo could have written nearly the same exact article without mentioning his name and without showing his photo. It would have gotten nearly the same amount of pageviews. It was very, very cruel of them to do such a thing when they gaine

If you look at the full-size images at Gizmodo the entire side metal area all the way around sticks out from the flush casing pretty noticeably. I think it's a prototype case or some kind of unfinished disguise. I forget where Ive was inter

I'd say this is a prototype hardware unit. The sides don't look finished, not with large, visible creases. There's no way they'll go from the smoothness of the MBP & iPad to something far less elegant with large visible gaps.

I've had it on my work machine for about 2-3 months as well, pretty sharp, especially the new logo.

He is me. I'm on Reddit and HN all day long reading very passionate articles and comments saying how much Apple now sucks and Jobs is a maniac. I happen to be just as passionate for the opposite point of view and wanted to get my thoughts d

I think the crufty feeling comes from most of the App Store being implemented using a WebView and custom HTML/CSS to mimic Mac-like UI stylings. This makes it very easy for Apple engineers to update the Store but also makes the user experie

And by "still writes code" does he mean "was paid to write someone else's social network, took that code and committed it to Facebook instead"?

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I'm a developer who works on iPhone & iPad apps, loves Objective-C & the Cocoa frameworks, loves the App Store, makes a decent amount of money from iPhone & iPad apps, and doesn't have much of

I know UI designers (who work on iPhone & iPad apps) that make $120-150 per hour for their work and they work for themselves, no agency. Of course your goal is to have 40 hours a week of billable work but it never really works out lik

Quartz 2D is Apple's C-based graphics drawing framework, mentioning that is irrelevant here. I still haven't seen anything specifically mentioned that's not written in C. You mentioned using Lisp & Haskell to write iPhone apps, which on

The highest quality apps in the App Store are being written using Xcode & C/Objective-C. The biggest app development shops working on the biggest and most popular iPhone apps are using Objective-C and Cocoa frameworks, not any kind of m
