Absolutely, and if it was not clear from the context, I call it a trap because that feels like what I'd fallen into at some point. Let me see if I can describe it better. The Nix ecosystem is attractive to me at a high level because it

I think an easy trap with nix is the immediate desire to have it manage everything, which usually involves installing NixOS. It's the equivalent of being airdropped into the Romanian countryside with working knowledge of French. I am t

It could be an example of Lake Woebegon effect[1], though I'm not sure that's the case here. On the other hand, making broad proclamations about nationalities based on anecdotes has another name. [1] https://en.wikipe

I did not mention Amethyst despite liking what it does because it is what I'd call "begrudgingly configurable." It will let you configure it, but it would rather you didn't. The trade-off is that yabai is instead annoyin

There was a recent major release that added in M1 (and Monterey) support. A few of us have been using it since the beta a few months back. It works at least as well as it did previously, and it feels much snappier now.

I like that the author points out a number of great default shortcuts in macOS, but I find it hard to beat the combination of yabai[1] and skhd[2] for the best keyboard-driven workflow. In the absence of these, I would be more inclined to t

Both Kata Containers and UTM support virtio-fs, so this is not strictly true. The former can be used as a stand-in replacement for the runtime used by docker desktop[1]. With the latter, one could use a UTM-backed guest as a docker runtime

My assertion is glib, but your response is wholly insubstantive. Can you to point out how this piece treats Rego as an actual example of a real-world Datalog? I don't see any link when mentioning real-world Datalogs. The fact that this

Sure it is, because the language of Open Policy Agent, called Rego, is a Datalog variant. I find a researcher’s failure to mention this concerning.

I wish nix would implement the stdlib next to the language, even if it's written in nix and not C++. I hate that so many of the basic building blocks are hidden behind lib in nixpkgs. I feel like that accounts for a good bit of the bar
