Open floor plan is so horrible. I have said no to a few positions from it. I don't mind working in team rooms, but that is still a bit distracting. The second it becomes two teams or more, I start looking for new opportunities.

Pricing is key. Right now I spin up GCE based clusters as the head and version migration is free and I only pay for 2 non-preemptible adequate nodes. The rest scale and preempt somewhat cheaply as needed.

Have you worked in Python 2 unicode?? Over half of the work and debugging the search engine service management team I was on was fixing unicode document injesting. But I agree, making unicode part of the language is very dumb. I just wish

It is a solid rant in that there are many people at there getting paid well (or selling) dubious models that will never work outside a narrow training set. Their bosses or customers will be none the wiser, but the results are dangerous. I

I remember 20 some years ago... that I had asked a few grad students about their GPA and GRE scores before applying. I remember having a decent recommendation, gpa .5 higher than a couple of guys, and OK GRE. Didn't get into the mast
