I don't think the purpose is to develop an actual plan that will be used so much as inspire writers and students. It's a PR stunt meant to drum up interest and maybe help a couple of kids. Not that there is anything wrong with tha

That is art right there. I'm not sure it's thats useful on Earth where we have so much pre-existing infrastructure available for construction. However on the Moon or Mars it might be amazingly useful.

Frankly, I'm of the opinion that it's a good thing Perl6 hasn't come out yet. 10 years ago, I would have welcomed it. Now though, it's 2015. We have a plethora of very nice languages. Many of them are statically typed bu

It's irksome when the auto formatter does something ugly. Though, I think the issue is far worse with Perl tidy. With, gofmt my view is more "I don't like this bit but fuck it." Probably because, Go has much simpler synt

I'm not going to pass myself off as a C++ expert. That said, I think it's very telling that we haven't had an unsuccessful pwn2own yet.

Yeah. I think we've hit the point where we need to start discouraging the proliferation of C and C++ (in my opinion). It seems silly that we cling to languages from the 80's and earlier when modern languages have advanced so far.

As far as I could tell at the time, I've had git fuck up on windows. I switched to the prod branch, did pull, and it merged the test branch into prod. Then, I deployed it, because I was in a hurry and didn't notice. Fortunately, i

It's not just about conveying the information. That's only one dimension in which value can be measured. Size, exactness, and ease of automatic manipulation are others.

A keepass password should be prohibitively hard to brute force that way. They're random and fairly long. It's far more likely the attacker found some other route.

The issue to me is more that our education system is so shitty these authors don't even know what math is or that they're doing it every work day. We combine abstract symbols and attempt to logically reason about how that will aff

I'm sure they did draw on it. But, there's a difference between drawing to make sure drawing works and drawing because that's your job. In the first, people would be more likely to say "oh I brushed the home button"

But you can extend lines by putting a \ at the end. I think I was this while looking through some glibc code quite a long time ago. So, you can have a single "line" that happens to have multiple statements.

While I don't trust facebook, they do seem like one of the more benign buyers possible. Any of the large gaming companies would have incentive to do some sort of "our products only" deal. Facebook just doesn't have any v

Does it actually matter? For the average desktop, everything of monetary value will be under the main user account. Which is generally also the account used to touch the internet.

I used to hold this logic. Currently though, I'm using Sublime. I've found that the situation where I need a console editor isn't overly common. When I do, I just page in the vi key bindings tweak a file or 2 and move on.

This week's list of breaking changes seems smaller than most while total merged pull requests seems about average. One week is too small a sample to go off but hopefully it's a downward trend as things sort themselves out.

Exactly. Read something awhile ago about NASA testing potential Mars rovers. They wrote off touch screens. They're cool and all but not ideal for situations in which you're being jostled about and you may be wearing gloves.

It may be bad tradecraft to subvert IETF standards but it would be wholely inline with people trying to padd their yearly performance review. Given the questionable effectiveness of some of the programs, review padding seems very plausible.

I disagree. Go errors aren't even error codes. The error interface is just one method that returns a string. The only advantage Go has over C is that the errors are no longer inband with normal return values. Once you get one though, y
