That part makes me wonder. It seems odd to me that a Mac would have trouble with Apple's Bluetooth keyboard. You would think Apple would have gone over that with a fine toothed comb. Is this guy doing something weird?

This has all the hallmarks of being a perfect bogus rumor. Apple is notoriously secretive so it can't be denied, no matter how stupid the idea would be in practice. It's also outlandishly juicy which means makes people want to tell it.

Cute idea. I had a different idea of "nomad" before I RTFA. I was thinking nomad as in travelling around the country/world as you work. That would be really cool.

While the numbers may be wonky, it's an interesting enough topic. I wouldn't advocate C++ but it not like various languages don't have JIT compilers these days.

I think user experience wise Apple is good enough to be the winner but user experience probably isn't the deciding factor. Eventually phone manufacturers will commoditize smart phones. Those phones will need an OS preferably a common one. R

It's generally better if you try to avoid putting your business partners or employees down in public.

It's a well duh, but still most people fail to test restore. This may be the greatest thing about distributed version control. Every clone is a restore. A limited restore but still a restore.

Laptops are increasingly people's primary computer. If you're going to buy a laptop anyway, the question becomes do "I even need a desktop?" If the laptop acceptably plays WoW or whatever other popular games, that gives it a significant adv

If you have something that is both convenient and secure, it's much better than something which is just secure.

Blame the fashion designers. Lots of the clothing women wear lacks decent pockets. So they're stuck putting things in their purse.

I'm not sure about lingua franca but it does kinda want to be the language of the web. You're already running it on the browser. So there is a synergy in having it on the server also. GWT lets you do write sides in Java, but there really is

Personally, Ken Thompson and Rob Pike carry more weight than Google. Also it is much easier to reason about memory and CPU usage with Go than Haskell. I think of Go as occupying a different local maxima than Haskell.

Well in this case the client side isn't the interesting part. The interesting part is the compaction of the server part into the database. The one language to rue them all is also interesting to a point but I assume you can do that with a J

Speaking of OpenOffice.org... People need to stop pushing it as equivalent to MS Office. It is so obviously inferior that people write off your opinion. It's ugly. Complex formats break. Last. I checked the was no grammar checking. Calc is

Not really an unlearning situation. No one I hang out with spends much time fiddling with CDs. Every time a CD is bought it's ripped to disc for actual use.

That's always confused me about template languages. They require knowledge of coding but don't include the full power of a traditional language. In a way it's the worst of both worlds. If you're designer is a only a Frontpage or Dreamweaver

Once I've piled up some context, I tend to hover around 40 file buffers open. Tabs just won't do that well even on the sidebar.

I'm going to remain on the fence. I had tabs in Vim. Then I switched to Emacs, found out the tabs options sucked. Now I have ido-mode. It's a nice mode of operation. Though I'm not sure it's a good mode for the average Joe. Though, I've fou
