One thing to note is that when you think mobile, WebKit (Chrome, Safari, Android, iPhone) is already a dominant force. We don't know what our primary web browsing device might be 10 years from now and IE is trapped in PCs (yes I'm ignoring

Ever since I stopped waiting on TextMate 2 and learned to love myself more, I've moved on to vim and now emacs. I'd be weary of any editor that isn't open source or has a solid organization behind it.

I think Justin needs calendar intervention, there's way too much info there no matter how you slice and dice it. There's always iCal or Fantastical on the Mac for nice and crisp colors. PS I don't care for Google's new designs so much eithe

All fitness advice boils down to "just do it, then do it again" but intensity makes it a whole different game. I enjoyed the article but I'd love to see more on how competitive athletes "up the ante" in intensity.

I use imapfilter for date-based expiration. Most of the cruft that accumulates in my inbox are straightforward notifications that don't really warrant manual refiling. Imapfilter is amazingly versatile and configs are portable. Sparrow an

This new release policy just doesn't make any sense. Sure Chrome is flashy and their release cycle is fast but they're also consistent (also young). OSX and Ubuntu release like clockwork. People appreciate consistency. Also, when 5 was a

You have to give Facebook credit for actively recruiting talent. Probably overpaying and distorting the labor market in SV even more than usual. Surprised Apple wouldn't try to hire him.

I've always wondered about this. The real expenses are disk space and bandwidth. I don't understand how they can't just provide a space-based plan (oh yeah, that would cut into high margins). It's a wonderful service and they've done so m

I wouldn't dismiss them as copycats since Samsung has good technology. They're also closer to the manufacturing side than Apple. However, they're also spread across all kinds of products. They'll eventually fall into the same trap as Jap

If you leave your wallet on the street in a bad neighborhood and come back, you'll probably never see it again. The problem with such protection laws is that it doesn't take into account the ignorance or incompetence of service providers.

This is the typical "rails" response. Rails will make you a better programmer by teaching you the right design patterns, etc. Of course, it does indeed give you a proper structure to building a web service and can be quite educational. H
