I can see it now: montage with Python classes being extended and nested ternary operaters being crafted, github pull requests, opaque shots of stackoverflow code scrolling over Owen Wilsons face as he slams caffeinated drinks.

Thanks for sharing. When you decide to expound upon the "natural bootstrappers" theory I'd like to read that.

This reminds me of how price scanners are now placed around retail store chains. I can't remember ever feeling like it was a big pain doing without them when they weren't prevalent. It was inconvenient when a shelf was missing a price, or w

There's no app/service for this already? This is a pretty good idea. I like the "chat" aspect especially since (on the backend) it could be taken care of with machine learning & automation. Most of the time looking for a store employee

As noted in the comments... hashtags != twitter and this is becoming more true each year. A few lines of code and Facebook could shake things up with all of their "dormant" hashtag data I say "Game On"

Heh. But seriously - post mortems are less like funerals and more like an autopsy. We're not "dancing on the grave" we're trying to "learn the cause of death" so we all (especially you) can live longer in the future. So lets dig up that cor

As much as I've wanted to break out of the top/left logo standard, the problem is... it's the standard. It's what web users have come to expect that logo will be at the top (expectation is top/left) and that it will take them to the home or

I liked/appreciated this link the first time, but the fact that it keeps getting a (barely) re-purposed title and submitted again? [1] [2] I hope it works but it's annoying for us that actually hang out in /newest [1] http://news.ycombinat

It's interesting, because while I agree with you that headlines like this come off as "fluffy link bait", I'm starting to think that Andrew does this (by design or not, not sure) because tit's the easiest piece of the interview to digest. T

Minor nitpick: 2nd and 3rd graphs say TN instead of TC I always wonder how much of this data is skewed (engagement especially) by the amount of apps that are built on top of HN.

So I refreshed and got "Github for Cooking" which sounded funny at first, until I thought about it. Which then led into a 15 minute discussion with the wife expanding on the idea. Now I wanna build it.

My guess is Twitter/Vine anticipated Facebook would likely block them, and built the feature in any way. If they didn't get blocked, gravy. If they did they gain some sympathy points (points they have been losing lately).

I've never 100% understood why these social networks were so integrated. It's normal to me now, but years ago the concept of facebook.com/twitter and twitter.com/facebook would scramble the business side of my mind. Especially when I think
