As much as I've wanted to break out of the top/left logo standard, the problem is... it's the standard. It's what web users have come to expect that logo will be at the top (expectation is top/left) and that it will take them to the home or dashboard. Any time we step out of this box users are like 'WTF' (I'm no exception).
