I mean by hand waving you are focusing on discussing the future robots that are going to take over and perform x task or y task or duplicate themselves. Obviously these robots doing that is predicated on them having AGI so it’s pointless to

You don’t have to do all this hand waving about what you think is going to be happening in the near future. Just explain why AGI will be in our near. Frankly, I don’t see how from what we have now.

You don’t care about incompetent but good people such as Earhart being essentially murdered by a society pushing them to take on a task they’re not properly equipped to do because of PR wins and advertising. Didn’t the US Navy kill a woman

Right since we haven’t already used an equal or even more so flammable substance for the past century As far as I’m aware gasoline ignites at much lower mixtures of oxygen than hydrogen. The Hindenburg can’t hurt you and if it was filled w

My 2005 Prius has 350,000 miles on it with the only maintenance being a new hybrid battery pack for $1000 at each 150k. I’m guessing I’ll probably be an old man when I can buy a new EV and expect that ROI. It’s not a conspiracy theory it’s

I think you’re skipping over the problem. In your example you owned the work you gave to the person to create derivatives of. In a more accurate example you would be stealing those books and then giving them to someone else to create deriva

You’re going to compare self-driving cars to drunk drivers so you can grade them on a curve? If you’re drunk you’re going to have pay for a ride either by a person or possible by program or you can break the law. I don’t see anyone who was

I think what you’re getting at is that societies define themselves based on external threats. Psychologically speaking on a group level it is much easier to say what we are not and define ourselves based on that than it is to develop an int

Spotted the person who has never been detained/arrested and then searched in public before. Trust me man it’s especially degrading not to mention time consuming.

Couldn’t that argument be used with a lot of hobbies? I think for most people it’s like interactive light television watching. Not great to do it obsessively but it can be relaxing and/or mentally stimulating.

The studies I have seen show evidence that drink spiking with other drugs is rare with around 1% or less of reported cases. This is confirmed in the studies with toxin screening occurring only hours after the supposed ingestion. When “spiki

I think the title needs a correction “Cartels are using the Cartel’s Database”. But yeah this has been known for decades. A huge portion of Mexico and other parts of SA are owned and operated by the cartels.

You don’t think there was any consultation between JFK and NASA before he gave that speech? A simple search for more information provides this. Kennedy asked Johnson to consult with NASA. Johnson consulted with officials of the National Aer

In fact I just tested this and I can give a simpler query to Google and get the correct result than ChatGPT. If I search “onion avocado store” on Google it immediately pulls up articles explaining the chemical benefit of the storing method.

Is it really necessary to mention ChatGPT assistance with a query so simple? This sort of thing really makes me wonder how much we are trying to persuade ourselves of the hype around ChatGPT.

By the very nature of lithium batteries EVs are basically throwaway cars after 10 years. The cost of replacing an old battery pack quickly exceeds the value of the car. You might be able to get a few extra years refurbishing it but that’ll
