I work for Indeed, and was surprised to hear your experience. So I brought up the site in a non-logged-in browser, did a search and verified that I can still see multiple pages of results. There may be an a/b test or something, but as

Yes. Take Google for example with exactly this approach. You can elect to put your apps on the play store with commission, or you can put them somewhere else under other terms. Stores can then actually compete on merit.

I'll give a vote of confidence for Flutter here. I've been using it as a one man show to develop a game ( markmywordsgame.com ) in the trickle of spare time I get. I use Firebase for back end. Flutter is a dream to work with. V

Google has recently screwed this up too with Material You where every single icon looks basically the same. App icons should be distinct. They are there for you to recognize the app! Monochrome and uniform shape does not help with this.

I know exactly what I've "lost" by going wfh: a 45 minute commute both ways (and the biking exercise), an open-office panopticon, and being surrounded by coworkers who don't know how to chew with their mouths closed. I d

I dunno. I feel pretty confident in my measure of "making it" for myself. I will have made it when I no longer need to work to maintain my lifestyle indefinitely. Note, that doesn't mean I'll be satisfied. But I will

While I like the idea of reactive server side queries, the focus on React and Javascript/Typescript really turns me off. I use Flutter for my front end, and I simply haven't had any of the trouble they say people are having with F

I own the domain ilikeyou.fyi and considered doing something very much like this. I rejected that plan for all the reasons above. It could be done better with public/private key cryptography, but then your audience has to be able to d

"Get to know me" is a bad paradigm. I don't want them to know shit about me. But since it's safe to assume that is you're serving content, then someone is consuming it, you can base ads on that content. You know,

You don't have to work anymore. You won the game. You don't have to play anymore. Or, you can play the unstructured bonus content. I never got the appeal of open-world sandbox type games either. If I had what you had, I would j

I do React (web, typescript) for my job, and Flutter for my hobby/side-projects. I chose Flutter specifically because Dart is far superior to javascript/typescript, and the fact that I do not have to deal with the absolutely bull

Yes, absolutely. Provided that health insurance benefits are still provided at the same benefits/cost. Selling 5 out of 7 days of my week is not something I'd ever choose. It's something we're all forced into.

No, it is not true. You must pay to release any app on either store. Google charges a one-time $25 fee, Apple charges $100 per year. You may release a free app with no advertisements. In fact, that is the easiest configuration, since cha

One thing I have not felt during this pandemic is any more lonely than before. In fact, probably less. I'd always feel loneliest when forced into social situations that I just don't enjoy: lunch with coworkers, parties, etc. I&

By that definition it _is_ a dark pattern. The thing people are being tricked into doing is divulging contact info/interest even if they're not going to buy at the eventually revealed price.
