What about complementary skill sets? The 2 Steve's of Apple fame or example? I think while it's just fine to have 2 technical cofounders it's also fine to have 2 founders where one is primarily business/design oriented while the other is mo

A good cofounder is not an easy person to locate. Often times the wrong choice can lead to your startup's untimely demise and there are plenty of wrong choices IMO. I've personally found it easier to contract the work out and then if one

It's a good question indeed. Obama's drug czar has stated on several occasions he's completely against legalization: http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/97101-obama...

Completely agree. The only issue I have is I don't want to see Philip Morris buy up all of NoCal and force everyone out of business. I think good growers will still be able to demand a premium for their marijuana no matter what happens in N

I'm sorry but Killerstartups is really lacking. Try searching for Dropbox for example. Nothing there. It's also hard to not click on an ad. I'm all for making money given that they are free but it's very spammy. Also, what's up with their g

Google this: site:news.ycombinator.com "rate my" or site:news.ycombinator.com "review my" I wish there was a better way. Might be nice to have an entirely separate category for new startup posts on HN...

I read the article and signed up. Here's why Hotmail still sucks: Tried importing my 1500+ contacts from gmail and hotmail said it can only accept up to 1500. Also, even though you can 'add people' to your hotmail/msn network using Google's

Well that's what APIs are for. Why release an API and publicize it in that case?

It's the economic exchange we make for not having a big advertising budget. Free customers are the marketing department in the freemium scenario.

We just rewrote our app from a Postgres backend to a Redis backend. The main difference I see with using NoSQL vs traditional SQL is that you massage the data during insert time so when you goto to look it up later it's pretty much already

Wait so are you saying that flat rate is usually better than per-use from a biz perspective or vice-versa? EDIT: I guess it depends. Flat rate seems like an attempt to get more cash upfront to cover costs initially. The problem is you are l

Payments would be tricky I'd think. Take apps like Highrise or Mailchimp for example. They already have their payment backends working just fine. Would they be forced to integrate with a Google pay system if they wanted to get into the stor

I'm still kind of holding out for a Chrome OS based netbook. I have been back and forth to the Apple store playing with the iPad and although I love the UI, I also know it's meant mostly for consumption. I really found the keyboard awkward
