Using Slack is like a dream compared to Skype for Business. Sure Slack may have some dumb default settings but Skype for Business finds a way to somehow sabotage 5-10 mins of most meetings with some sort of technology issue.

Sensor quality shouldn't be used to justify driverless cars being safer than a regular person driving a car. It's useless unless the car can actually use it to make a better decision than a human.

Eventually, it might be. However just because the car has better sensors doesn't mean it will react better than a human would with less information.

I'd be interested to know how much of that is from political spending during this crazy election year.

You could also use a subresource integrity check if you are worried about the security but still want to use Google's hosted version.

In the picture of the linked article he's clearly holding Strang's book - see a picture of it on Strang's site here: http://math.mit.edu/~gs/linearalgebra/ . Also, the campus newspaper reported that

To put it in perspective: there are more people who want a job but aren't looking for a job than there are people in the entire US prison system (2.6 million vs 2.4 million).

Yep, although it is slightly worrying that there are 2.6 million people who want a job but aren’t looking. If I had to guess, probably a lot of that is due to a lack of marketable skills.

For anyone wondering since I didn't see it in the article, it seems like the $76 book is "Introduction to Linear Algebra" by Gilbert Strang. Not sure about the free book though.

In the US this is incorrect, it's classified as barter income: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc420.html "An example of bartering is a plumber exchanging plumbing services for the dental services of a dentist.

Suggestion: if a customer pays for an annual subscription of the software, grant them a perpetual license for the corresponding major milestone version of that product. For instance if I paid for an annual subscription of IntelliJ in 2015,

It's pretty cool to finally have a discount option to subscribe to all of the JetBrains products. When my existing IntelliJ license free upgrade period expires I'll probably subscribe to the "all products" option. That s

I use Mint, and of course I don't think providing your bank credentials to a 3rd party service is a good idea. That said the company backing Mint currently (Intuit) also does TurboTax, so at least they have some experience with handlin

A little off topic, but is there any benchmarking software to compare embedded databases? For instance SQLite vs H2.

As a Python newbie, Anaconda helped out a lot. Getting SciPy/NumPy/Pandas etc working on a regular Windows machine was a huge pain compared to just installing a single application.

Not a bad idea, but I thought ASICs basically killed the profitability of mining on standard computer hardware? Still, if the electricity is free then at least it's something.

I'm surprised the article doesn't mention Ultimate Online's private servers (though I guess their legality is probably a gray area at best). Most of the people still playing UO are on those servers where they're running

Nice reference. It's interesting how intuitive the examples are even though I've never learned a functional programming language before.
