I'd actually prefer to keep timezones out of the time library itself, and have them only part of string <=> time conversion. Basically move all TZ handling to the parse/format phase of input & output, with the understand

Such a personal choice. I don't mind the reflections, and I strongly dislike matte - everything looks dead & second-rate to me on a matte screen, so much so that I just gave away a matte 4k monitor rather than use it.

I love the examples of turbulence and laminar flow in Fantastic Mr Fox - hard to find on youtube but this clip[0] has about 3 seconds of what I'm talking about [0] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vjMc_HlNic @ 1:22-1:2

Agreed. I majored in Symbolic Systems, with a concentration in AI, and it was fairly CS-heavy. We skipped some topics I would have later found useful (compilers, database, operating systems) but in exchange I did a lot of AI CS work that

not to be too snarky, but perhaps "looking backward" would be a better title =) (don't get me wrong, I love my ssh and am glad to see msft supporting it for real)

Yup. I find fight scenes with a bunch of cuts to be boring - and a bit disrespectful, even, of me as a viewer. Watching a fight with only one or two takes, however, is fantastic. If I recall, the Soderbergh movie "Haywire" was g

"v" just opens your $EDITOR, btw, not necessarily vim-in-terminal. It's basically the same as the bash built-in "fc" command, but operates on the current line instead of the last one.

Not really apples-to-apples, though. The Rand Paul cover is a sliding bit of plastic, vs just an adhesive strip.

@matthewn (can't reply directly to you) - hah! You're right, Anthony Lane is hilarious. And the opera reviews can be boring if you (like me) are not into opera. But you know what I mean =)

The New Yorker is an amazingly humane publication. Not snarky, not haughty, not what many people (who do not read it) think it is. This piece is a representative sample of their journalism. The New Yorker is like Burning Man - people who&
