Looks like you are willfully ignoring Facebook’s own findings. They know that polarizing content is more engaging yet harmful… and they choose to amplify it anyway. The same old argument that it’s hard therefore let’s not do anything is not

Having worked in growth before (not at Facebook), I can tell that you vastly underestimate the impact FB teams have on how/when/what/for how long/how many times/etc content is displayed to end users. This is absolut

Are you a Facebook employee? Your justification sounds a lot like the internal propaganda that is being fed to employees. “Facebook is net positive”, “it’s just a tool”, etc

Decade-old books are considered old? For some reason I was expecting to see classic literature being trendy… instead it’s about cheap thrillers and romance from 2010s.

"clearly indicating support for 60W or 240W as defined by the USB Power Delivery 3.1 Specification." None of the logos indicate support for 60W. It’s silly to expect ordinary consumers to guess that by omission. Also a very strang

Because you still need a car in those places if you want to experience them fully. Eg hiking in the East Bay is still pretty inaccessible by public transport from SF. So yes, you can enjoy the landmarks in the city, but if you want to visit

You state that these qualities are exclusive to social networks in the same sentence where you say that other means could be used but are much harder. So… not exclusive?

Not much but still some: “Finally, and most vitally, reading Pushkin offers tremendous pleasure: right after shaking one’s head at what a little prick he was, a typical Gemini, one is touched or amused by the next amazing line.”

This is interesting. I think this approach goes hand in hand with a much lower quality bar on TikTok. We have an expectation that YouTube videos have a certain production quality, so pushing new creators would often result in unmet expectat

Every TikTok user I know tells me that the primary reason they use it is the algorithm. Apparently it’s way ahead of YouTube. Anecdotally I am in the same boat as you—ended up removing the YouTube suggestion sidebar with an adblocker due to

Not saying you should but it is possible to gain a pretty respectable level of knowledge in almost any area within just a couple of years. Take online classes or even complete a fully online MS program. There are many examples of engineers

Greenwald is claiming that people are becoming less opposed to GCHQ’s spying due to their support for social issues like LGBT rights. I am asking whether there is any evidence to support that.

If we could reduce that to 6-7 hours I would take the train every single time. Driving is an active process vs taking the train where I can work/read. Current 11 hours is just too long.

To be fair not all types of articles have an obligation to present all opinions on the matter. If they are reporting news then in most cases they are reporting what happened and not analyzing the benefits and downsides of what happened.

Unfortunately this aspect is missing from the discussions about race in the US. You can be born and raised in a poor family in Italy but after moving to the US you will be immediately recognized as a privileged white oppressor.

I highly doubt many “woke” people would agree with you and call an unknown white family in Oregon—and not Zuckerberg—“the real bad guys” .

It’s a strongly expressed opinion that isn’t necessarily supported by evidence. Do you know of any statistical or anecdotal evidence? I personally don’t know anyone who changed their opinion of GCHQ for better because of their support of LG

I am not sure people complain about the tents. There is a lot more that comes with that. Tents block public areas and sidewalks. There is a lot of trash accumulated around tents. There are usually no bathrooms or showers around which leads

Valid point. I think higher price subscriptions could be manually reviewed by Apple to prevent abuse.

It’s especially infuriating because it seems like that’s an easy problem to solve. It’s unreasonable to allow subscriptions above $50 a year. And if developers do insist on a higher price, then Apple could audit them.

I have tried both everything from your list and Ayahuasca (multiple sessions in a jungle retreat in Peru). From my experience nothing comes close to LSD. Ayahuasca is definitely an intense experience - both physically and mentally - but the
