I would not contribute if companies (e.g. Google) could just take the data and not give back to OSM. ODBL isn't perfect but share-alike is important for OSM.

stopped reading at "much of it is organized by volunteers" as that's not really true anymore. I'm sure the A/B testing can be improved but not at all convinced how it's done now is "wrong".

well, I can set a limit of say 500 euros (or whatever I need) per day. So even with a lot of smaller transactions, there is a point where they would stop. Damage can still be done, though and I'm not aware if/how I can get alerts
