Not sure, don't have much experience with that. This is a "classic" futamura projection - you write an interpreter and the "magic" turns it into a compiler. I'm not aware of any consumer-grade compiler like tha

"Yes, you can build AOT compilers that beat JITs produced by meta-tracing an interpreter" - not for all the languages. As mentioned below, there is a certain tradeoff associated with JITs - warmup time, memory consumptions etc. Bu

you don't have to use the code, you can (and probably want to) implement the code yourself.

That is the usual "what's easier - starting from scratch or updating existing codebase to newer python". Obviously starting from scratch is more fun, but finishing it to support full python will be a major task that will prob

It makes sense != it makes money. Google does not support cpython either in any meaningful way (that is, someone hired full time to work on cpython for example).

So well, one interesting question as to why this is at the top of hackernews is - do people not know about jython? Jython does exactly that - it compiles python into java (I think it emits bytecode and not Java source, but don't call m

PyPy is being update very regularly with 3 releases a year on average. Most of the work however focuses on things our users really want - stability, performance, C extension support, warmup speed, memory consumption - you know the mundane s

The problem that python is facing (and pypy is not solving) is that in order to have a working async library ecosystem, everything , especially the stdlib has to be async aware. This is a far cry right now and I don't see any of the

Maybe it's worth noting, maybe not, but this extremely trivial example (e.g. serial.py) gets executed 20x faster just by using pypy which speeds up serial execution. This is more than you would get by any sort of multiprocessing/t
