I suspect this is a myth too because desktops get a plain USB keyboard / mouse, maybe a webcam and call it a day. What if I put a TV tuner in there? Hello compatibility lists. As it happens my Ryzen desktop did have fewer issue but sta

True, but when it's among the 1st Ryzen laptops and you need a beefy CPU for work you might take a chance! I still hope a good kernel hacker will buy it and fix the trackpad. I would even chip in some money in a fund, but it's not

Well, the X1 is not exactly cheap hardware. There was recently a news that all Lenovo laptops will be Linux certified so I guess there's little change to have issues with a Lenovo Legion. Turns out the trackpad just won't work. I

My extended family all switched to Ubuntu because this is what I put on their cheap laptops. I showed them Firefox, Skype and the photo manager and it all worked well. Everything is done in the browser nowadays. At some point one laptop was

This reminds me of the Homer Simpson quote: "We should exchange insurance information. I have none!" The average Romanian would cross the national border and notice the phone have NO signal. No data, no GBs, no voice, only 112. Tr

What else could a man do but cry with rage?! The most interesting thing is how flat the hierarchy apparently was. Was a modern astronaut just mingle with the prime minister and try to muscle in on a launch?

It's a good thing that with EU's "Roam Like at Home" people from Finland can go transfer those 17GB/month in any other EU country, but people from Romania saw the introduction of "national" SIM cards which

What I found fascinating is that Google is digitally signing the data given to authorities. This is more than any free or paid user can obtain. You have a green padlock in your URL but can you prove in court you received a given email? No

Thing is Google were also nasty towards Sun and helped it go under quite well. In many ways this is karma but too bad there's so much externality to it.

Honestly it would be nice to stop beating around the bush and declare your end goal: communism. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". "Meritocratic equality" is an oxymoron. You can only a

I would like to see some data about this because the European "safety net" is reaching mythical proportions in the minds of Americans. What safety net when schools were closed and hospitals closed with only emergencies and COVID?!

The Apple et all antipoaching agreement was illegal the whole time and they knew it. It wasn't that the courts found it happens to be illegal. What Apple under Jobs' watch did was illegal at a critical time for the industry.

The again there is no reason any project has to go on forever. Some open source devs assume, often correctly, that money would ease the pain. In other cases just stoping open source work seems the logical choice. After all, there is no need
