Sorry folks, gotta revert this for a bit - the `/laravel-bytes` section has an issue!

It’s true, I can attest! The idea of “increasing your luck surface area” is real. You can create a lot of opportunities for yourself by being public about what you’re up to. It got me a job working with Taylor Otwell, before his businesses

This is also a useful tool just to find resources hiding within an account. It defaults to performing a dry run (it’s a PITA to actually delete stuff, on purpose).

Hey, I've used this show to act as my own sound machine when trying to nap! Some nights are the kids are terrible sleepers, so my wife and I take turns napping during the day while the other watches the kids. As you might imagine, they

Of course it does! I think at a certain scale (the article seems to touch on this) you move off to faster languages for specific tasks that need other features (concurrency for example) or to save on total number of servers required. Saving

I mean, $5 -> $6/mo is technically a 20% increase, but it's only because it's such a small amount to begin with. I haven't checked their pricing in a while but I think the $5/mo droplet used to be 512m but is now

My favorite part of this article are the repeated ads for Upwork I was served. Pairs nicely the content.

What do y’all run firecracker on? The metal servers on aws (the only servers you can run firecracker on in aws) are pretty expensive!

I run a CI application for Laravel developers (Chipper CI). It turns out, the gap between "works locally!" and "works in CI!" is not negligible, especially when you're not sure "about all that server stuff"

Your idea of what PHP is is old, that comparison doesn’t really hold. Laravel in particular is extremely advanced similar to Rails.

this is sort of scary when the company getting acquired manages a bunch of your money! I find myself a bit too cynical to read the words “agreed to be acquired” and not think the stakeholders really mean “F-yea I got (more) rich!”

To my knowledge, Fathom Analytics is the only analytics app that has bothered to hire actual lawyers and navigate EU isolation. They wrote about it here: https://usefathom.com/features/eu-isolation

I’m curious about why you’re backing up your email from cloud providers? Presumably their storage will be more durable than yours. I saw one person mention using it to help migrate to another system. What other reasons do you have?

I would be suspicious about how the services report clicks and (especially) open rates. They are notoriously inaccurate. Buttondown just may just be more generous (less rigorous) in detecting false positives. Deliverability is also partiall
