I'm not sure what your point is. Is it that it's okay to arrest them if they're not live? (Not attacking you--just hard to understand intention through text) It really seems like their intention was to cook up charges, then r

For regions that rely on snow accumulation on mountains in winter and melting into rivers during other seasons, they could be screwed. And plenty of regions heavily depend on that process.

God, and whenever something is deprecated, they don’t update the documentation with new info and sometimes they remove pages of older info that’s still usable. I also had a free edition installed on an old laptop and wanted to make a quick

One common route is game bundles. They’ll ask for 20000 keys “just to start” and pay you 10% of total bundle revenue. Surprise surprise, the bundle sells 150 units, you make $5, and suddenly you have 50 copies of your game being activated e

I think a beer can help with anxiety. A few beers just results in overconfidence. I will admit it helps with conversation if you don’t normally talk and you’re around equally drunk people, but a few beers plus a crowd of sober people doesn’

Use of a hanko implies that you're acting on behalf of the owner of that hanko. If someone signs a paper with your name, you can say someone forged your signature and prove that your writing is different. If someone fraudulently uses y

I see dithering used plenty. Keep in mind that pixel art was displayed at native or close to native resolution and blurred on CRT displays back in the day. Now it’s displayed at 10X resolution on sharp LCD or OLED screens. As another commen

I really have to agree with you here. Ever since the pandemic started to ramp up, downvotes and hidden comments did as well. I'll see more greyed out comments in a single thread these days than I used to see all day just a year or two

There's also a matter of scale. Any one of the top 50 subreddits probably get more activity than all of HN. 10000 comments on a single post isn't uncommon, but 1000 posts on an HN topic is pretty rare.

Outside of China, we're pretty lucky that we can just register for random sites like HN with nothing more than a username and password and start talking. Every Chinese site I've ever used requires phone number or ID verification.
