"a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer." A question not expecting an answer is pretty close to correct particularly in a modern context.

People do not speak at 230 wpm. Ever. It does not happen. Edit: I stand by this. Auctioneers do provide a good counter example but much of what they say is just repeated phrases.

Is this really open dialogue? Correct me if I'm wrong, but basically all of the methods that they mentioned are pretty standard stuff. They had a few interesting twists on these ideas, but in general, things like source code encryption

I used to use macbooks exclusively, but for the last 2 years or so I have switched mostly to windows 10 because of work, and I hate it more two years later than I did when I started using it. I am truly trapped. I will buy another macbook,

Wow, and absolutely brutal amount of work must have been put into those reports. How do they estimate the cost of parts made inhouse?

It is very cool and pragmatic of you not to care about the misfortunes of others. I am deeply impressed.

Because moving sucks. I hate moving and I do it a lot. And one thing I hate even more than moving is being forced to do something unpleasant through no fault of my own.

I know food is transient, that's why I used it as a comparison. And really, really good food is just good. On a very primeval and satisfying level. I get collecting. I love it. And at that level I understand. But from a pure enjoyment

I really, really don't understand the expensive alcohol hobby. For those of you that do, is it more about finding and trying cool stuff? Because I can completely relate to that. I just feel like expensive alcohol is so transient, and c

Hell of an article, I think it is clear that Tesla has had serious production problems with the model 3, but, then again, Tesla has never met their production goals on time, and only recently(ish) are we seeing shorts at the magnitude.

Are you really interested? If you can compile fortran I can link you to some of the climate models, as well as some papers, and you can run them yourself. This isn't a trivial undertaking though.

Really ugly though. Do car companies really think they need an completely new design language for electric cars? One thing Tesla did right was to avoid pushing the style envelope too far from the get-go. Edit: If they ever get that electric

I agree with your first statement, but apple products have always been too expensive. Eventually you just learn to live with it.

Haha, 32 gb is enough for me at the moment, but I am sure that the engineers at google are doing their best to make sure that chrome consumes record amounts of ram per tab, so soon 32 will no longer be enough.

Exactly. If you actually let said "urbanites" make the decisions they would all end up with a bunch of dead vegetables....except for okra and zucchini. As far as I can tell nothing can stop those two from growing.

As a user of the latest versions of both macOS and Windows, I'll still take macOS any day. At the moment it is their hardware I am frustrated with, not their software.

I just miss the days when they named the OS releases after kitty cats. Snow leopards are adorable, but I don't feel nearly as much passion for a beach I've never been to.

Is this satire? What algorithm is faster than what algorithm?!?! They have names! "State of the art" is not the name of a damn algorithm. Why is the abstract being coy?

I suspect once a day use isn't enough to cause serious dependency (for most people), so long as it isn't being used for self medication. I suspect physical dependency probably results from use as a teenager (when the brain is chan

If the implication here is that the intolerable asshole part is a personality problem, that doesn't seem like a fair accusation. Caffeine and sugar withdrawal cause much the same symptoms. It is hard to be nice when you have a headache

Can't speak for marijuana addiction, but I know an addict or two, and problems seem to develop most prominently if the substance is used heavily and for self-medication.

that was my first thought as well, but it is interesting that the addiction rate seems to double for those who started as a teenager. I guess it makes sense that changing chemical balances in the brain when it is growing that rapidly could

Don't think they can. Keychain is supposed to be a secure storage solution, so I can't imagine they want users to be able to view that data, and it would be hard to manage it without knowing what it was. That said, I found a post
