That is not correct. Earthquakes' energy doesn't all go to displacing water and hence generating tsunamis. An ocean impact is significantly more efficient at transferring energy into tsunamis. https://www.sciencedirect.

I used to work as a scientist in a large research org. I once had the director of HR address an email to us as "Colleagues". Talk about cringe. (Colleagues in my world connote someone who might be considered as a research collabor

Does anybody else have trouble with tailscale "site-to-site" subnet routers -- deployed on Linux firewalls -- messing up their routing? If so, what has worked for you? (Edited to replace point-to-point with site-to-site.)

Australia is HUGE and mostly empty. You need some mechanism for getting that energy from source to sink. Transmission lines are relatively few and far between. The eastern states have an interconnected grid. Western Australia is not only is

A blast from the past. UCLA had an S/360 model 91 that was "the campus computer" when I learned to program on it in 1975. I still have a JCL book from that era somewhere in a box... //GO.SYSIN DD * DOO DAH DOO DAH (

I found this site a few weeks back. It was built for generic astronomical clear-sky use in the US and Canada (at least) but it has this page[1] for weather along the eclipse track. [1] https://www.cleardarksky.com/ec/202

No advective heat transport in sand. In tanks of water, on the other hand... That means that the hot middle of a sand pile stays hot, instead of advecting to the outside, where it cools by conduction.

I have no insight on the ease of reconductoring, stupid or not. I do know that permitting a new transmission line route -- parallel to an existing route of insufficient capacity -- is severely constraining the further development of a known
