FOSS is great because great people supported it even when it did have, figuratively speaking, a big fan.

No need to be dramatic. If you think of an answer to my query, let us know. Until then I'll consider it resolved.

There's never a been a year of the anything desktop. That's not a thing that gets proclaimed by anyone at any time. Who would have to say it for you to suddenly accept that Linux desktops are awesome and have been for 20 years. Wo

There are no true open platforms. And we are trending towards them being more closed, with Apple leading the charge. For the good of yourself, and future generations, you should not financially support companies that lock things down. Espe

That doesn't change his point about building high functioning teams in the past, though. Just that he is capable of adapting to the times. He had 27 years of career leading Linux before 2018. Successful, by any measure.

Just like this website. Usernames. Easy peasy.

I think the problem is that it's a requirement, not a feature you can choose to use. I'd be more inclined to use Signal if I choose to use only a user/pass. Just need a block function.

Yeah, or you could use an open platform and save yourself the trouble.

It's a little funny that after all this brilliance, he's still limited by Apple. Either way, remarkable. I truly hope Nintendo leaves him alone though..

Is that what you wanted to study? Or did you do it because you had to, just to be able to pay for it? You're OK with public school being paid for by tax, but not post secondary. Why?

I'm curious to hear why you are ok with elementary through to high schools being paid for with tax?
162.
by fezfight 4y ago
Because if they don't have to pay for it, theyll do it because it's what interests them and we will get more interacademic crossover ideas. Which is where innovation thrives! As it stands, people who persue their dreams are forced

Really? You wouldn't prefer that it was all free any everyone got access to it? I think it would be great to offer all these programs, for free, paid for by taxes.

Or maybe I'm not paying enough attention to right now. Good points though, thanks.

With such a vague statement, you could easily swing it either way. To me, it looks basically identical. What's different for you?

I mean, you can say 'nah' all you'd like, but there's a whole section in that link on their hostility to Java. Including choice anti-competitive gates quotes! Can't say I'd blame any language dev who saw that,

To be fair, Microsofts citizen status is self inflicted. There was a time when they were actively hostile to programming languages not built in house. See, for example, Java. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_ext

Do yourself, friends and family a favour and stop trying on different computers. You're installing spyware on all those machines.

Not to be antagonistic, but what the hell is wrong with your computer? In the old days, we'd say PEBCAK.

I honestly feel like you were just matching the tone of my comment so no harm done really. Mine was smarmy, yours passive aggressive. Its like a 90s sitcom in here!

Better yet, a flat file structure that you can grep with standard utilities. We can put it somewhere convenient, like in dot files in the users home directory. We can even add them to git with something simple like git add *.*

I can vouch that organic maps is really quite nice, straight forward and familiar. OSMAnd is more fun, in my opinion, because of all the features but if you're looking for familiar, organic maps is the way to go.
