I would like to see society evolve to a point where people interact on a purely voluntary basis, without the threat or use of force. That's my vote.

:) Sorry about the vague "eight-ness" there -- I just mean I see lots of patterns with eight prominent features, or "spokes." I saw quite a few with sixteen spokes, and probably higher powers of two as well, though I wasn't in the mood to

Right. And what's with all this "we" and "ban" talk I hear so often? What's the fascination with controlling the lives of others and looking up their skirts? How about freedom, live and let live, to each his own, and mind your own busines

I see a lot of "eight-ness" in there. Some other powers of two as well. I didn't notice any "prime-ness" though.

I have no opinion on the matter, since the subject of how to use other peoples' property is none of my business.

I can't do without "diff", specifically "diff -r". I use it to compare both source code and reference output directories.

Hmm, should I really jump into this? Mark Thornton at Mises.org has one thing right: "I believe in the unrestricted right to gamble." But he goes on to say: "Despite this, I oppose the adoption of a state lottery." I would like to agree

It is not a tax, because no force is involved. But you're right, it is a delightful business model.

retard, v. To slow the progress of; impede or delay retarded, adj. Slow or backward in mental or emotional development Those sound innocuous enough to me, but "challenged" is the vogue and should be safe for 20 years or so.

shouldn't that be: for (a = 0; a <= 100; a = a+10) ? You have a comma after a=0.

You don't need anonymity to speak freely. You might need anonymity to protect yourself from loss of freedom, property, or life. For example, in the 1770s some people wrote pamphlets criticizing a man named George, publishing them under pse

Because of this question I went ahead and wrote this little blurb on how to integrate Loom into shopping carts (and paid content sites): https://loom.cc/faq#shopping Thank you. That is all. :)

I should also emphasize that this alleviates the "password proliferation" problem. The customer logs into her Loom folder using a passphrase she already knows. She creates a new Loom location there, nicknaming it "valuable-information.com"

Here's a simple way to do it in Loom ( https://loom.cc/faq ). The customer visits a paid content site, let's call it https://valuable-information.com . The customer's browser has a cookie for that site which stores a Loom location (an ID

You're right on the money with "one small action." For example, when anyone asks me for exercise advice, I tell him: "Do 1 push-up every day right before you take a shower." That may sound pathetic but the key is to do something consisten

Sure, I'm reviewing the gambit code a bit. I'm really busy so I'll have to follow up later. Right off the bat I can tell you that Fexl's combinators aim to be written in readable C. I suppose the simplest combinator to show would be "I" (t

I concur. Fexl can whip combinators around so fast it makes my head spin. But I still like writing C, even if it's only to write a Fexl interpreter. Consequently the whole purpose of Fexl is to be a thin functional "layer" on top of C.

As much as I like Lisp and even pure functional languages (such as my own Fexl), I still like that old-school loopy, branchy, bracey, break-ish, drop-down to the iron, procedural feel of straight-up C and even Perl. You won't get a language

No problem, I'm completely cool with any business plan that does not include clauses such as "And in this case, we take all your stuff and lock you in a cage."

You got that right. Great hiking too, along the foothills and all the way up Pike's Peak. And speaking of "fourteeners," the Collegiate Range is pretty spectacular too.
