I have duckduckgo set as my default search engine in Firefox. Does anyone know how I can make it use SSL? In other words, make it use https://duckduckgo.com instead of http://duckduckgo.com .

Right, that would destroy the value of the property people have already earned and somehow managed to keep. That would be wrong. If you want jobs, let people accumulate capital and invest it how they like.

OK the best textarea editor I've tried today is "It's All Text!", found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4125 It reliably places a little blue "edit" button below the lower-right corner of the text area. When you clic

I finally got patient and took some time to look at the help. When you get into a text field, you just press Ctrl-i and the text comes up in gvim. I tell ya, this guy has gone whole hog with vimperator. I've used vi for 30 years now and

After more experimentation I find Texto pretty unreliable at grabbing the existing text from a textarea. So it's not solid enough yet for me to rely on.

Wow, the Texto plugin does exactly what I want! After installing it in Firefox, I told it to use this editor: /usr/bin/gvim Now when I want to edit a text area in vim, I just click the little Texto icon which appears in that text a

OK I'm trying it out myself now. I'm in a text field and it's showing that I'm in "INSERT" mode. Makes sense. Now normally in vi I could press ESC now to exit INSERT mode. So that's what I'll do now. ESC Drat. It doesn't do the ONE T

Does it work inside text areas? The article mentions working inside text "fields," but I'm wondering if I can get inside a large text area and have it feel just like a vim window. That would be great because then I'd be more inclined to ed

I don't trust any individual who insists on observing everything I say or do. It is very likely that such an individual aims to control my life or property by threat of force. I used the word "steal" for that concept because it was the onl

Voluntary transparency is good for reputation and good for business. However, I choose not to live in a glass house. To those who demand to know what I'm trying to hide, I demand to know what they're trying to steal.

I think the recursion gets off the ground better than that. Notice that I said "if you make a thing using your property , that thing is your property." Property starts with your mind and body but it doesn't end there. Certainly an infa

You have linked to a story of people who used authoritarian force to violate private property. The people who took that land from its rightful owners were thieves. Rightful property is established by production or trade. A rough recurs

What statistics? Why do you differentiate between "cultural and societal norms" and "natural human behavior?" Cultural and societal norms are natural human behaviors.

You are not responding to the argument that I made. I said that if such behavior ever became the norm , the human race would die. As of now, only a small portion of humans behave this way. This happy fact enables humans to survive. Howev

Human survival and wealth depend on voluntary production and trade. That is already baked into the evolutionary cake. If human behavior ever became "all about screwing over" other people, initiating force, and taking property without cons

For me it's the power of systematic refactoring. A friend of mine back at H.P. used to joke: "Programming is simple. Start with the null program, and debug it until it does what you want." But seriously, I've gotten a lot of mileage fr

Right, that's how real working things get done, and how failures get flushed out: by people risking their own time and capital. The key word there is "own."

I much prefer well-defined combinatorics over the vagaries of set theory. Combinatorics are executable, meaning that they map directly to physical devices, and the only "paradox" in combinatorics is non-termination, which is just a simple
