I’m sorry but this is the funniest thing ever. Wasn’t it just a few years ago we were joking that AV software is the virus? How far have we come.

I don’t think that’s common at all outside the US. I’d argue that even suggesting that would get you blank stares for its absurdity. I don’t think anyone has been expecting a paid-for device for the past two years just because to work you h

Yeah but China’s population is just padding the numbers here. Its tail of “low-emitting citizens” is probably as high as the high-emitters. China is as capable as the rest of the first world to enforce higher standards if not more.

I don’t think this kind of data is known outside the airline. As far as I know public data is limited to available tickets and classes on a specific path.

Certainly in Asia people may be more polite about it… or you just might not understand when they use derogatory terms in their own language. I’m white and I still hear people occasionally insulting me in their own language, thinking I don’t

You’re being downvoted but people who are at least a little familiar with Asia they’ll know how racist it is against people of color. Racisms in Asia is not only widespread but also out in the open, sometimes even against white people; Goog

Sometimes there’s no elsewhere. Sometimes elsewhere only has crickets. It feels like you can’t both have a successful product and one that is free of noise. Only some open source software succeeds at this and even then quality often suffers

Every time I get a second message after my “wrong number” text I lose a little more faith in humanity. I regularly get voicemails and calls on my Google Voice number and people reply with stuff like “oh then tell him blah blah”.. sigh

Right, because nothing else we already use has any chance of causing permanent damage. Nothing at all. Leave your bubble, I’m talking about relative probability, I’m not saying that it’s “impossible.” We accept far greater risks in our d

That’s not how reflections work. Also there’s no bug as big as a coin that such a system could/should kill, so it’s pretty easy to not misdetect that. Again, corners have a higher probability of ending up in your eye than even just s

I think the chances of a quarter’s reflection aligning to your eye while the laser is on and pointing at it are pretty damn slim. If that’s still too high, you better eliminate all corners in your kitchen because someone is going to lose an

The thing about translations is that they’re not written by the author. You can translate something and convey the same approximate meaning, but it will always be an approximation, sometimes reduced, of the original intent of the writing. S

The usual then. Pirates never have to deal with DRM and sometimes their games perform better — I recall a story about an anti-copy mechanism slowing the game down for people who purchased it. Good stuff.

I don’t know how you can say they can’t. The eSIM is just a number. An attacker can install it exactly the same way I did: I copy-pasted some numbers from an eSIM provider’s app. I’m not talking about getting the number from the phone, bu

I think that the risk is more about stealing the number more than reprogramming it. If I can move my eSIM to a new phone, so can an attacker.

Say goodbye to a few markets then? Open the eSIM providers list on Apple’s website and count the countries. I literally cannot buy a phone without a SIM card slot because I can’t use it basically anywhere I visit.

I’m confused here: htmx is not an MPA. If it were, then you’d call a SSR React site a MPA too. The core behavior of a SPA is that it loads pages via ajax and just replaces content in the current “document”. The difference between a simple S
