The lack of vendor-agnostic hardware abstraction layer (drivers) in FreeRTOS was my main reason to use ChibiOS for my projects. Although, libopencm3 has progressed nicely, so FreeRTOS + libopencm3 could now be a decent alternative to ChibiO

Having just deployed a machine vision system (using GigE machine vision cameras): why exactly are you building custom cameras? If you don't mind/are allowed to share this information, of course.

Two things from my experience: 1) Read the fine print when it comes to processor manufacturers telling how much time something takes. Although PRU subsystem is deterministic and __most__ instructions take 5ns, there are quite a few cases wh

I'm fond of STM32 Discovery/Nucleo devboards. They have all the required debugger/programmer hardware on board, can be used as debuggers/programmers for standalone STM32 MCUs and are very well priced (you can get one for

Second this as I tried platformio for STM32 recently. I was expecting hiccups due to arch usually having newer versions of libraries but everything worked out nicely.

The wikipedia article is about incoming call queueing which I find good even from end-user (caller) perspective. What I found more interesting is that at least some telemarketing call centers actually use outgoing call queues. The reason fo

Well, of course it's easier to have a single off-the-shelf solution which solves N things than have to cook up the same solution using separate independent pieces of software. But I would argue it's easier to debug and modify each

I'm using arch on T430s and T440p. wicd didn't play well with wifi card/driver on T430s- no wifi after resume. It works fine with NetworkManager though (or maybe driver was updated in the meantime). I'd recommend a Tx30(

Compatiblity with existing libraries and example code for other Arduinos is the key here. I find it surprising too, but there are people who do not really want to know all the low-level details but get the result quickly :)

It's interesting how newer technologies allow us to notice these kinds of bugs. I am unable to read speed with 1 km/h resolution on my car which doesn't have digital speed readout.

I'd make that statement the other way around- open source firmware supports hundreds of routers. It doesn't look like the openwrt folks and others get much help from the router manufacturers.
