In the HN discussion you link to, I went through exactly the process that you are going through now! I too thought the censorship was just a thin wrapper around the model, as I had not understood the article I had read until it was explain

This bypasses the overt censorship on the web interface, but it does not bypass the second, more insidious, level of censorship that is built into the model. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42825573 https://

A reason for more external copper pours might also be that the EDA tools have improved and can now handle the complex shapes. Back in the 80s/90s copper pours were a pain using Protel (later called Altium), as they were built using st

The Westminster tradition is for the public service to give "frank and fearless advice" [1] in the interests of the nation. It's still democratic, as a minister can choose to ignore this advice, at their own peril, and issue

Is it true to say that there are two levels of censorship at play here? First is a "blunt" wrapper that replaces the output with the "I am an AI assistant designed to provide helpful and harmless responses" message. Se

Thanks for the explanation. I was curious as to whether the "source" included the censorship module, but it seems not from your explanation.

A few observations, based on a family member experimenting with DeepSeek. I'm pretty sure it was running locally. I'm not sure if it was built from source. The censorship seemed to be based on keywords, applied the input prompt

Thanks. Mainly I was posting to pass on the insight that I had at the time: that dealing with a death can be a process of transition rather than preservation.

When my Dad died, I was the one who "disassembled" his workshop. There was an order to it, which I grew up with, and that order deeply captured the way my father thought. It felt right to be pulling this personal thing apart. M

You might be able to use a laser, with a video camera as the sensor. Even though the frame rate of the camera is much less than the sampling rate required for audio, it potentially has a high enough spatial resolution that there are multip
