It only has fiber to compete with, and light only travels at 2/3 speed in fiber compared to free space.

Looks like the DOE is a form of Bragg Grating similar to a FBG ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiber_Bragg_grating ) but in a planar form. Still trying to get my head around how it works...

Most video encoding is mp4-type now (rather than the mp2-type used by dvds). Mp4 is typically a lot more processor intensive.

I would highly recommend watching the BBC documentary "The Men Who Made Us Fat". This reaches broadly the same conclusions. Fat is fairly innocuous, but the real danger food is Sugar, and artificial sweeteners tend to make things

Strange nomenclature. I would have thought it should be called Quad-HD since it is precisely 4 x 1920x1080 screens.

So is this basically RAM paging similar to when CPUs transitioned from 16- to 32-bit?

It depends on the power budget of the fiber link. A 3db splitter would tap 50% of the power, but if this was planned for in advance it would be easily integrated in the long haul network.

If my memory serves me AltaVista had good newsgroup support too. It was even possible to manually uudecode binary files from the search results.

I wonder if this is limited to LAN side or WAN. WAN would be very worrying indeed.

There really is very little in terms of hardware in a Leap Motion. It's basically two webcam grade cameras, 3 infra-red LEDs and a plastic IR filter. This is just the same thing.

Here are some images of an early version. Basically it's two webcam-grade cameras and 3 IR LEDs. http://monleap.fr/537-kit-developpement-leap-motion-photos/ That's pretty much it. It makes me wonder why people are getting so excited about

Yes, as far as I understand it, it is an IR LED light source with a camera sensor and some simple optics. I don't know if it has stereo vision or not. Although even if it did, since it is such a small unit, the spatial difference between th
