"You can't speculate that a specific tree was felled with an axe rather than a chainsaw when you weren't in the woods to see it happen." -- on the contrary, I'm pretty sure a rational person could speculate that a s

No evidence? I was not in on any of those specific conversations and neither was the op but I've overheard a lot of conversations from hiring managers and they did explicitly discuss candidates race and sex, and I think if you ask arou

That is literally the stated justification for dei policies.

Okay so let's be clear: you think it is wrong or unhelpful to speculate that race or sex may be a factor in what the op claims to be observing? Because "baiting?" What do you mean by baiting? I read that as you trying to sham

Why not? Do you seriously believe racism is never a thing that happens in hiring? Because it is, just as it is in academia. At least some of the time. Instead of shaming people for pointing out the real possibility that racism may be at pla

Were houses rent controlled in addition to multifamily residential? I'd expect developers to focus on houses when multifamily residential apartment buildings were under rent control. Is that the point you were trying to make?

I'm similarly confused. And with the shade Biden has been throwing at Tesla I'm concerned it may be politically motivated.

I don't really have an opinion about whether or not programming interviews are useful. I think they probably are useful in most situations. Nevertheless, I suck at them. I don't think I've ever passed one. I'm not even a

Your first paragraph is money and I don't want to get on a tangent, but I'm curious to know what you think rails is today, if not a thing?

Yeah setting up an instance is complicated. I've seen the do solution but even then.

No, I mean libertarian. Libertarians can be right or left leaning. I do not mean code for conservative.

I'm curious to know why there aren't more conservative or libertarian mastodon sites. Seems like a good fit.

Encourage him to take some classes online. If he has fun and then says he wants to be a professional programmer, your role is to honor and support that choice. Help him figure out which tools can be learned quickly and he can get paid for.

Brought by mastodon and against Vizio and Tesla? Or by some other entity with a similar license?

Yeah I thought the same thing. Someone pointed out that even creating test accounts probably qualifies as "over the networks." But it seems silly. And unless mastodon is enforcing this clause against every other instance operator,

I think this is about right, as long as mastodon is enforcing the requirement across all instances. I suspect that if it was enforcing this in other instances it would have said so.

The licence says "over the network" but it hasn't launched. I realize some people have made test accounts, so I suppose there's an issue there if they've made issues of similar behavior before, but I don't see

If I understand correctly, a) the license requires people who use mastodon "over the network" to meet certain requirements and b) the site is not yet live or being used "over the network." If my understanding is correct,
