I've lived in japan for 5 years and your post strongly resonated with my experience. Japanese are generally very polite and educated. You will be treated very well if you are a tourist, but expect to feel alienated if you actually li

Would you guys start a GraphQL Api today using Rust? I'm very tempted to hint at that but am still insecure about my 'options'. This is coming from a very comfortable python + fastapi + sqlalchemy ecossystem

I really wish I could work in OSS more. Have contributed to several libraries intermittently. How do you find time to do both OSS work and your day job? does your employer allow your OSS contributions to count as work there? I wish I could

Nginx is a superb piece of software but for me it has largely been superseded by Caddy. I like it for its sane defaults, you get most things working from the get go and a fairly high score on the 'rate your webserver security' che

I coded this strategy as a roulette simulator (to learn me some Rust). You are guaranteed to win a few but as you keep playing, your loss goes to negative infinity. https://github.com/flipbit03/roulette_simulation

I wrote a music playing bot/radio thing with XMMS that could remotely queue songs via a simple web interface and people would join in via Icecast. My first open source contribution ever was for XMMS codebase, where I implemented two re

At my company, we have been using Github Codespaces for development and it has been quite nice, since it offloads all your actual development to a simple VM (and uses VSCode's remote feature for that)

Have you tried PyCharm? Even the community edition is pretty solid. Btw, how do you set up your vim+python? do you use something like coc.nvim to get language server protocol working with it?
