So, make it cheap to be poor so the bottom 80% of Americans can generate free cash flow on the family/individual level. * free health care * free/cheap public transit (trains, bicycles, walking; energy efficient) * cheap real esta

Brightline is being built and it is a private railroad. The local highway authorities are attempting a shake down. Perhaps policies should tie transportation, rezoning, and real estate to incentivize private construction of transportation i

Dangerous playgrounds work when families have 6 kids and kids are somewhat disposable (my heart is not so cold). The risk calculation is different for families with 1-2 kids.

Blockfi promised interested bearing accounts. So they basically were running a bank. They paid 100M US in fines as a result. So, if they end up losing depositors money, who will be responsible? I think regulators should either come out wit

So, it is legal to run a bank without applying for a charter so long as the deposits are not US dollars? It doesn’t seem like a gray zone to me, but black and white. I would have assumed I would have gone to jail before receiving a single d

Does this have any connection to what is happening here: https://twitter.com/hellspawncrypto/status/15388470138481049... <--- or is this conspiracy theory?

Yes, with stake-weighted tx bandwidth. I think if QUIC (node to node handshake) was in place, Solend would have no excuse to do this vote as there would be very little risk of the network going down.

The damage is done. The contract is not immutable. Squirting UDP packets until you see your tx pop up in a block turned out to be a risky design choice. Hopefully, Solana can add p2p tx propagation like a normal public blockchain. I just

Good points, but you still have the fundamental physics problem of hauling too much mass for too much distance for too little gain (1s kgs of groceries, etc). The US needs to get as many people off the road as possible. Get them on to bicy

And how do poor people get to work? Most poor people cannot generate cash flow without a car, no? Cities de-prioritized non-car commuters decades ago. Shall the US re-prioritize non-car commuters?

Instead of making poor people poorer, why not tackle some structural issues. Like, why does a poor person have to go into debt by 15K USD at 15% interest rate to buy a car just to work a job that pays 15-20USD/hr? This is financial lu

The pride remark is anecdotal on my part, but based on SUV sales I would argue that my point is close to true in the US. Cars are a luxury. If you are willing to pay a tax based on engine displacement , give priority on roads to pedestrian

No pain, no gain. We just suck it up for a few years. Our future generations will thank us. You get immediate savings by stopping road expansion and cutting fuel demand (close lanes on big roads, replace with bicycle lanes). You get 3-10

1 short cut to cutting demand is to copy everyone else around the world. Let cities get rid of single family zoning. Let go of pride and commute by bicycle. The energy consumption will drop by a magnitude. People's health will impr

Interesting. I heard someone from Solana labs describe write access to Solana as an oligopoly. But I don’t understand the play. Is it for Jump and retail investors to play in the same Dex derivative bath tub?

Regulators should take a look at crypto firms pushing 20x leverages derivative products on retail investors. Regulators should pay attention to MEV and order flows on decentralized exchanges. Some blockchains are not permissionless to writ
