I was surprised to find out that Docker now installs as a VM by default even on Linux, unless you choose to install the Docker Engine manually. https://docs.docker.com/get-docker/

Shouldn't a cloud VM have swap disabled by default if it's using networked block storage? It is on AWS at least.

To make it worse, there is a bug with their flagship 120 fps displays making this specific transition run 2x longer.

Reddit definitely has promoted content and native advertising. Perhaps you're not seeing it because you're using the far superior old.reddit.com?

It becomes hard to justify a manual in that segment. The price difference is negligible. Not much to gain from maintenance, might actually cost more to maintain a manual if misused. A good DSG transmission is smoother, sportier, more effici

A "Pop Piano tune" could be a low-effort stock musical asset. It would have been more useful to compare using other well thought out musical pieces.

I think a better analogy would be with the tobacco industry. Both are controlled by huge multinationals, heavily connected with the advertising industry, and have a lot of influence and power in developing countries.

Saving the VM state is not hard at all, the feature already exists (v8 snapshot) and is used in Chrome and Node.js to initialize the JS standard library. The problem is native handles. The DOM is easy to restore, but how do you restore a We

This mechanism is not doing any serialization, it just disconnects the page from the renderer and puts it into a memory cache, keeping the v8 VM initiated, but paused. It cannot be used to save a tab into the disk. https://source

They do, however it's not fully shared at the process level, the GPGPU API should explicitly support mapping a buffer from the process virtual memory space to the GPU. I looked it up and turns out OpenCL also supports zero-copy buffers

At a very high level yes. There is also the very important step of efficiently laying out data in the GPU memory to compute tensor values in the kernels.

My biggest worry with such a solution is a program going crazy and blowing up my bill at the end of the month. Less a concern for enterprise projects where you can setup cost monitoring, but terrifying for hobby projects running on credits.

I plan on submitting some bug fixes, but I believe the rest will be a hard sell to the Chromium team. They also have very high standards, and the current implementation is not up to it as of today. Something that could be cool is work with
