I think that's a bit trickier. If Makita or whoever was forced to change their batteries, anyone with a big catalogue of their tools would be pretty miffed. Also, I've mentioned this on hn before, there is already the Cordless All

We're not hiring at the moment I'm afraid, and I suspect a US candidate probably wouldn't be considered due to the time zone difference.

I recently built a search engine backend for our rock climbing database. Web dev is new to me (I'm an iOS dev primarily). From all the stuff I've read on hn I chose to write a typescript api that uses Zapatos to interface with a p

My personal favourite is wankbreath. It doesn't even make sense, but the first time you hear it you can't help but consider what it could mean.

Thanks for that. I'd taken it to mean it was propelled by fans and couldn't figure out how that could possibly work. This linked article on the road legal version confirms what you say in one of the image captions: https:/&#

To be fair it's also the name of a small musical bird, but yeah I'm sure many if not lost English speakers will think of a yeast infection first.

Ah fair enough! I've never used elixir/phoenix, and I was under the impression that it _was_ LiveView. Now I get that Phoenix LiveView is just one component.

Are announcements like this always done in this strange mixed-voice style? The first para reads like it's a third party that's reporting on the event, then in the third para they use the word "our", and it's on thei

I'm probably just getting a bit old, but I like to layout my views manually. I've got a few helpers so I can write `view.left = otherView.right + 8` or `view.moveLeftEdge(to: margins.left` etc. I find it just so clear and easy to

It's a shame that apple has been so obstinate for so long. Their behaviour is very clearly about money and not consumer protection, which is just used as a convenient excuse to hide behind. They could have allowed third-party payments

Electricians and plasterers often work with stilts on construction sites (in Europe at least). https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=electrician+stilts

Are you in the US? I've found it pretty ropey in Europe every time I try to ween myself off Google maps. Another benefit of Apple maps is that it gets preferential treatment from the os in that it appears on the lock screen when naviga

There is actually a consortium like this, but unfortunately most of the brands involved are pretty niche. The only two I'd ever buy from it are Mafell and Metabo. https://www.cordless-alliance-system.com/

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with Xcode. Every time there's a new update I have to go through a rigmarole to get back my customised keyboard shortcuts. I don't have loads of them, and they're normally

It would be very interesting to see what the workers saw when they found it. I'd forgive someone for thinking it was just a sunken log, going by the photo in the article, so I'm wondering what they saw that made them call the arch

They mention that image search is 100% bing. Not sure if this is planned to be replaced by their own implementation later. "However for some features, like searching for images, Brave Search will fetch results from Microsoft Bing."

I believe that's the case yes, although I only learned of it the other day and haven't got round to switching yet. Spectacle is now unsupported and Rectangle is a community fork.

I agree the window maximising is frustrating in macOS. I use what used to be Spectacle and is now Rectangle to bind a "real" fullscreeen commmand to a key combo. The way the default behaviour creates a new space makes me think tha

I can imagine there's a difference in wake from a classic turbine blade that slices through the wind coming at it, and these vertical ones that are sort of pushed out of the way.
