Ha i kindof just want to repeat exactly this: "But still, $.22 for 100k followers is not very much." I understand there are technicalities but 22 cents/month is what you'd expect your complete unknown "electronica i

if the money never gets to the artists what is the point? its good to build up an infrastructure but this is more to keep the industry's pockets lined than the artists, so i've seen at least a few who encourage to just torrent the

yea a coworker uses YubiKey... it generates extremely strong one-time-use passwords (essentially just meaning it auto-generates a different one for every site?) & auto-enters them through a browser add-on when the device is in USB (I be

yeah i guess it strikes me as odd that these silos are painted as such dire straits when describing a scenario that includes the backdoor of "unless you choose to go into industry and immediately make 100k+". I and the other peopl

yeah I agree #8 in particular should elicit a lot more debate in the js community. Back when I used to be into RoR I would get a ton of flack in interviews for writing pure js rather than Coffeescript, pure css rather than Sass. There are l

thanks... I think the reason I get a bit heated is because I come from an arts background actually. There are a lot of slippery slopes in industry, and now I am on one. It disgusts me when I see that my peers are just tumbling over one anot

While I agree with your sentiment I think your analogy is a bit off... there is a big difference between adding a utility library like jQuery to your project vs. committing to the project layout of a framework like Rails. jQuery is actually

it's kindof funny the way frameworks/libs work My thought process using Spring in Java: 1. I should try to just use pure EE to leverage the power of the web container so I don't include a heavy framework for no reason. 2. Now
