How often were people migrating from AWS Redis to Redis Cloud in the first place? I'm guessing not a lot.

I think that is not normal at all, and absolutely should not be normalized. It is much worse for my package manager to install a totally different software, than for my package manager to install a new version of the software I asked for

Silly take due to how these resources must be distributed. Redis corp is paying developers to work on Redis itself, so they have less money to spend on building out a cloud offering. AWS was not paying developers to work on Redis, so they h

I use Redis in basically every project, and this "ridiculous" move had literally zero impact on my usage of Redis, so maybe that is a bit hyperbolic. SSPL is not as bad as the OSS community pretends it is (unless you're a hyp

I did this as well for a while, but have actually been impressed with how helpful the Google AI summaries have become. Now I'm back to a hybrid 50% pure LLM, 50% Google approach. (and I use Google's Gemini for 50% of my pure LLM r

Oh for sure, they're not doing a good job. My point is only that I don't believe the status quo was maintainable, so "they could've just maintained the status quo" isn't a good position either.

In the current admin's defense, that is a terrible pair of major exports in a world that has already started to move away from Globalism. You can't maintain that if the primary "consumers" of those exports are not actual

Why didn't you like the project if it was a better project by most definitions of what makes a good package manager? e.g. what did you want from a package manager besides 1. easy to install packages 2. readily updated packages.

When Homebrew started (and when I switched) the community was significantly smaller than MacPorts. It is due to the system you mention (and the community that this MX in turn cultivated) that allowed brew to dominate the mac packaging marke

If you want to compare Solid to Vue, I think it is easier to just compare React to Vue. If you like React better, then you can compare React to Solid and see which you prefer. SolidJs is 90% similar to React in terms of DX, with only a coup

Yeah, to me the language (ruby) has nothing to do with the success of Homebrew, it is entirely about the DX around backend packaging. The main reason I switched from MacPorts to Homebrew back in the day is because when a new version of [ins

I'm confused, are they Russian agents or wannabe oligopolists? Presumably it can't be both, as being part of the American oligopoly in an America that is subservient to Russia seems hardly worthwhile.

Yes, the Bible is long, but it talks about many topics. The only thing that is mentioned a lot is Yahweh and Jesus. Beyond that you're not really gonna get a lot of consistency on topics. This is a random Bible search website to show

That doesn't make sense, as ads are useless without consumption (i.e. imports). We did manage to monetize our consumption thru ads though.

Yeah my numbers were made up, 40% of strike price does sound more reasonable (and obviously provides less leverage, but still some). It being pre-tax also helps with leverage vs taking cash. Another benefit of the company's options is

It's actually more than that, because the option costs less than the price of a full share. i.e. if your comp is $400k and you choose 100% stock options as your comp, that value allocation will almost certainly control more shares than
