It's not about optimizing for speed; it's about optimizing for comfortability. Not having to move your hands at all from the keyboard is highly underrated. If you pair it with a windows manager like i3 and use something like vimiu

A few days ago my mother mentioned that she had gone buy groceries, stopped before a florist, and tried to smell some lavender, but for some reason could not feel absolutely anything, which she found interesting, as it has a relatively stro

Nothing wrong with that. I have been using vim for close to 10 years and will take intelliJ + ideaVim over vim if the language is well supported. It's night and day difference.

To be fair, if you cure aging, you drastically reduce (or make non-existent) the incidence rate of most diseases, since they tend to appear as you get older. I think curing aging is the ultimately smart thing to do.

Sounds like a very interesting idea for a startup to solve. I will still find Blue Origin a bit more interesting though.

I recall reading an AMA on Reddit (take that with a grain of salt) about a very short sleeper and he mentioned that he slept very deeply. I wonder if short sleepers sleep less hours but need to do so more profoundly and it just so happens t

I'm not sure what you mean by "get away", but the people we are talking about in this article legitimately can't sleep more than 6 hours. They naturally wake up after that just like you do after 8 or 9.

(Just in case I didn't make myself very clear: I'm talking about Java; any other language is another story, and for that I use tmux+vim) It's true that there are a lot of small things that slowly add up that make the experien

Java in intellij+ideavim is much faster than in (n)vim, and that comes from someone who has been using vim for nearly a decade. Intellij is just too good.

I think it's fine to have a bit of selfishness in your life. I'm not saying that you need to make very irresponsible decisions, but if all your decisions are made based on what others need, you end up living for others.

Maybe if they get another $300M round they will be able to afford some designers to fix the abomination that the current design is.

I think it's fine to jump into frameworks and slowly delve into the fundamentals. I find it's better to build something first, even if you don't understand 100% what's going on; otherwise, I don't end up sticking wi

Is it really the compiler/type system's fault, though? Sounds more like a language's design or specification flaw.

Thank you for mentioning it. Just removed it. Do you know of any good, non-expensive (VPN?) alternatives? I was using it to access Netflix in other languages for language learning purposes.
