Almost my sentiment. Quite often pre-packaged items that need to weight a certain amount are slightly more or slightly less resulting in the terminal err-ing out. The self checkouts over here are regularly supervised by employees and regula

I like how the date of this HN post is in the 1970s. I believe this was the start of the Unix epoch time? *Seems like it's a username and not a date.

I can assure you, it was running no more OS than an Arduino Mega would. It was purely interrupt based.

This is nice. I actually wanted to emulate the hardware of a car's ECU to run it's firmware and reverse engineer it better. The arch was simple, it had no multiple cores, it had no MMU, it was all running in real mode basically. U

This is absolutely false unless you have a long-haul truck. Additionally most pumps have a price button or gallon/litre button where you set the thing you want and it shuts off automatically. If you want to fill up all the way, there i

The cloud is like those portable toilets in public. They are private, but there are also people around you at all times. Sometimes you forget to lock the door and someone else opens it.

It's a 2.4, but hardly matters. It's actually a 170hp model, the 140hp was a software limitation that closes the throttle plate at upper RPM around 4500RPM and up. The modern S60(2010-2015) is a far cry from the sizes of the old m

Wow, another Volvo gas guzzler. My 170hp automatic S60 is 10l/100km by attempting to drive normally. As soon as I step on it though... Even then because it breaks a lot I've never reached speeds above 170km/h and also because

I had to login to HN which I have not done in many months just to say this to the young generation. The title is from a meme. Like before the memes of today, when a meme was an image around a black frame with white text. It usually goes &qu

Well, if the entity issuing the TX was colluding with a miner, they'd craft the TX and the miner would add it to their mempool without announcing it to the rest of the network. Then when and if this miner finds a block, it would includ

I am one of those who "learned" English from watching cartoons as a kid. Mainly, Scooby-doo(the one from the 60s) without any subtitles or dub. But like you said, it's not 100% perfect, nor is it even 80%, neither orally nor

The article mentioned Conficker. Conficker was the only malware that I had years ago that seriously made a mess for me, mainly horribly slow Internet. And it was my ISP that notified me of the unusual traffic and that I had Conficker.

Regarding your last sentence. Reverse Engineering is a complex task, and obfuscation is but one of the many challenges a reverse engineer faces, granted malloc/free or stack variable and the example binary not being one of them.
