That's not my question… that's the question I would have preferred the article addressed. I already gave an answer to the question in my original comment. Also, the 'explanation' begs the question, why wouldn't we s

It's not clear to me what your point is. Are you saying that my suggestion that the article should have addressed a different (similar) hypothetical is at odds with your imagination and the physical structure of bone?

I usually can keep it straight by thinking, which branch would Linus think is his? That’s ‘ours’, and the new, potentially code-breaking branch is ‘theirs’.

Because you're developing automated tools to deploy to prod & you're verifying the correctness of the system end-to-end with a no-op command. The connecting to an external system is not what's under test, and assume I

I don’t follow. I think brokers have enormous risks of valid claims needing to be paid out, which they hedge by taking out insurance themselves. You seem to be saying the same thing, while claiming that you are saying something else. Could

Let me help expand your imagination: what if the code is for sshing to prod and needs a ssh-agent or a password typed in? Would you leave those cress on your CI system? Would Security be happy with that?

Yeah, exactly. To put it another way: get your business logic components to return data structures (a list of DB actions or an updated dict), and your core controller to turn those data structures into DB calls. Then your tests simply say:

Here are some more questions: How much business value is this test adding? That is, if this test failed and we ignored it, how much would the business suffer? Is the code easy to test? That is, does the design have lots of self-contained co

I would only purse my lips if I were performing a shush. In words like ‘hash’ I’d just close my mouth slightly & leave lips parted and wide from the ‘ha’ sound. I agree that the mouth shapes are garbage in this demo. A shame because tha
