Yeah - whatever. So why, in your opinion, did no women step up earlier to create a dating app, if that is even true (there are a lot of dating apps in existence)? If you believe the spin of the article, that women make better dating apps an

The premise in the first part of the article was that Dating apps suck because they are not made by women. At the same time they bashed Tinder, which was cofounded by a woman - so the article's premise is obviously absurd and I didn&#x

I read the first part, which included enough nonsense to make me stop reading. Certainly there was nothing to stop women starting Dating startups before now. If that woman has success with Bumble, why not?

Tinder actually had a female cofounder. And it wouldn't work if women wouldn't use it. What a silly article.

Kids cost money either way. You probably decided having kids would be worth it for you. What is 3 unpaid months - let's say 30000$? That is nothing compared to what you'll pay for your kid over time.

The regulations might be partly in place to protect the big players from pesky small competition? I have no way to judge that, though. But if that's the case, perhaps the regulations can be changed.

While I agree that it's horrible (but also presumably comparatively easy to fix), I think they only measure pollution by certain pollutants, not total pollution.

Where I live, commuter trains are packed, though (Europe). How can that be? The same logic should apply to commuter trains as to cars?

I don't know - by the same token, if I don't walk in the middle of the road I am letting car culture win? Maybe if something is dangerous, it is better to avoid it. In this day and age whatever you say online can be read by billio

You could formulate that in a more straightforward way: people don't want stuff they disagree with being written in the newspaper.

Maybe, maybe not. In Nothern Ireland Christians have been killing each other for a while. Maybe religion is just a superficial reason.

I like the aesthetics of JavaScript. It makes the code cleaner because it doesn't require so much boiler plate. There - I said it :-) Oh and compared to Go, I always point to sorting in Go. Just look up the library. I think it's a

1995? Are you sure? I started studying maths and computer science in 1993 and Cobol was ever only mentioned as a remote curiosity. I remember Pascal, Perl and C/C++ were common.

So rape victims are forced to have that procedure done? That doesn't really make sense.

What makes you think it is rare? Maybe most of the time the rapists confess without the need to use the kit (maybe the existence of the kit is enough to make them confess, so no need to actually process it). And maybe collecting the informa

What if the rapist already confessed? 1500$ would buy a police officer a nice computer. In many countries the police lags far behind the criminals in technical equipment. Edit: hit HN's comment limit again. Anyway: consider this - what

Maybe the kits don't really "make you sure". What do you know about them?

Doesn't it depend on the circumstances? Sometimes the kit might not reveal any useful information. You assume because it is some sciency sounding thing it will give you 100% information, but what do you actually know about those kits?

Not comparing yourself is one thing, but you should also question your values and goals. If you think interning at top companies is a good thing, you could try to also intern at a top company. Just one example.

Haven't people effectively been using robo advisers for a long time already, with human financial planers as glorified frontends? I mean often these advisers might just ask their clients for their data, enter it into a computer, and re

I think actual deletion of accounts is not a functionality that is high on any startups list - disabling is probably the usual course of action? However, to lie about it is another matter entirely.

We don't tell girls not to, either. Quite the opposite in fact. The only people who tell women not to enter tech are feminists. And I am honestly torn about recommending it to my son. I will (try to) teach him programming for sure and

Perhaps one reason is that jobs in Computing are typically not all that attractive? My current freelance project sees me working in a room with 20 people, lined up on long desks (not even Cubicles). After a while, it can get a bit smelly. T
