Moving to plain-text and markdown a few years ago was my best decision. I encrypt all my notes and store them encrypted on GitHub. I don't want my private data to be handled by unprofessionals.

One out of my three macbooks (that I ever had) died because of SSD. They have a limited lifespan. That's a common problem for 3-5 years old macbooks.

They charge you the full price of the motherboard when it’s out of warranty. Third party services can replaces SSDs on non-m1 models for 20-30% of what’s Apple charges.

Apple replaces the whole motherboard. That’s not repair, that’s at least $1000 worth of electronics thrown away for pro max models.

I’m so tired of this kind of marketing. Meanwhile, if your SSD dies on m1 macbook, the laptop becomes unrepairable. If Apple would care about ecology, they would at least allow to resolder it.

TBH, Affinity is slowly adapting Adobe's practices. They have released second generation of every their app and these apps don't have any significant changes. They just wanted to get some money from their users second time.

I also tweaked UI of my VS Code. It now basically looks like Vim (all the menus, tabs and icons are hidden, except the code). If I need them back, I just press a hot key.

Don't forget to subtract car amortization from the $15 figure.

New phone does not mean the same model. New phone usually has more features and a newer version of Android. That’s how consumers usually think about the benefits of a new phone I guess. Very few people care about sustainability.

I think 32GB of RAM should be the base for PRO models. In a lot of countries, custom models take almost two months of waiting. The M2 Max models have 32GB, but they cost $4000.

Exactly, but it's hard to combine them. Ideally, you want to have at least 3 running and 3 weightlifting sessions per week to keep improving. For an average person, it's too much.
