Electric cars still need power - hopefully wind and solar, but most likely also nuclear, and fossil. If one would be to calculate the pollution cost of creating materials to build all the new power sources (wind, solar, nuclear) to support

Some developers are a funny bunch, always chasing after the next cool thing: either a language, an editor, a stack or a methodology. I’ve watched the RoR hype, the Agile frenzy, the Sublime Text popularity, the Angular and React mania... Th

Your dobelli link is 404 :( anyway, this whole problem isn’t new but it’s very hard to solve. How to stay informed but not bloated? I don’t know... here they compare mainstream news to fast food so I guess that’s one way to look at it: htt

To put it a bit over the top: In every other language you write code. Perl is magic and you write spells. It suppose to be this way, because the way it works is sorcery. I don’t know about you, but I always wanted to be a wizard, not a typi

Oath has one of the more nagging GDPR pop-ups. I like Slashdot, they at least give an opt-out option to access the content. On TC you are either opting-in or forbidden to access. And it's not like a technical necessity either. My compa

You gotta love the developers' schizophrenia where on one hand we go batshit crazy over mass data collection by "malicious" apps, and on the other we fight with passion for the same apps to just run unmonitored in the backgro

When it comes to ideologies, it’s very easy to screw over lots of people in the name of a “greater good”. It’s very hard to be the “bigger man” and do the right thing. Google was placed between a rock and a hard place here. In a dominantely

GOGON: Get off Google, now. :P Weird things are going to happen if Google were to shrink: paid gmail, premium search, subscription navigation in maps, lock screen ads in android, and hard monetisation of user data. A giant doesn’t go away w

Fun fact: the poc doesn’t “work” on iOS if you uninstalled the Mail app and are using a 3rd party client (link triggers App Store prompt “do you want to install mail”) ;)

Why not use Screens/NoMachine to remote access desktops on iPad Pro? It’s blazing fast on local network, and reasonable via the internet. You could have an on-demand bootable Ubuntu or Windows via Azure quite cheaply.

It's hard to understand your point when you don't lay out a readable argument, but I assume your biggest grief is with the word "best" – ok, "good" also fits. Still can't see why it's so unbelievable

Indeed it's sad, but at least "for a time, it was good". Still, that only applies to some parts of the world at the moment. And I hope the next generation of coins will mitigate these laws.

Well this scenario applies to so many fields. Social media was a fun way to interact with friends. Then people started to show off professionally and endorse products for cash. Greed. "Greed is good" ;)
