Off-topic legalese: Does the "(c) knockoutjs.com" at the bottom have any legal value whatsoever? Generally one would expect a person or a company after the "(c)".

"ex is the version of ed rolled up in vim, which extends the command set of ed. vi, by contrast, handles colon commands by invoking ed externally." Actually vi and ex came about at the same time. You can see the POSIX standard mentions [1]

I thought Windows' default filesystem (NFS?) was not safely writeable from Linux. Does your method involve changing Windows' filesystem?

Oh, heretics! How dare they leave ed out of the list [1]? [1] https://github.com/bmatzelle/gow/wiki/executables_list

Cygwin gives you (seamless) access to the Windows file system. Is it possible to (say) 'sed ... | wc' a file in the host's directories from a VM?

That's alarming. From a technical viewpoint, I wonder how they can make sure a person has indeed upvoted the article.

Thanks for your reply. I can see my wording is confusing: I know the actual stories are kept, but I was referring to the "saved stories" under your profile. I have rephrased the question, hoping it's now clear.

Ask HN: Do HN's "saved stories" list only items less than 100 days old?

Self-answer, for anyone interested. It's in the source code [1]: die "Error: No matches for news.ycombinator.com in ~/.netrc." [1] https://github.com/bsandrow/hn-profile/blob/master/hn-profil...

Item #N I'm learning on HN today: .netrc! I read that I need a "machine remote_hostname token pair". What should I use for remote_hostname in this case? Thanks!

Could someone explain what this would accomplish? If you have to go offline you would still lose that session, no?

I think I missed something. How did he hack the other guy's computer? He based his analysis on email headers received in his own computer, and used Google, whois, fb, etc. after that. Right?

Sorry for not diving into the docs and firing the question... Could this be used to easily detect where the eyes, mouth, etc. are within an ID picture? I'm not talking about face recognition, but rather about (the more trivial) face-element

I'd say go for it, within reason. Maybe not every single post, but it's OK to get started. Considering the good quality found on ihackforfun.eu, I doubt it will take you long to build a considerable audience. Out of curiosity, why did you g

Could you expand on that? I'm contemplating using Hostgator, mainly because it has received fairly positive comments in HN (as a hosting company). The "unlimited" promises seem too good to be true, though. In any event, how can they be "ove

At the risk of dumping yet more karma, let me rephrase more constructively. OpenBSD has focused on security from the beginning. Precisely for that reason, and considering all the audits they run, it feels like, if OpenBSD has used (up to 4.
