Could you expand on that? I'm contemplating using Hostgator, mainly because it has received fairly positive comments in HN (as a hosting company). The "unlimited" promises seem too good to be true, though.
In any event, how can they be "overage" if they provide unlimited hosting? Do you mean "overselling"?
- RyanKearney 15y agoThere's really nothing wrong with HG. I've used them for quite a long time. The shared server I'm on has 18GB of RAM, dual Xeon X5675 for a total of 24 cores, and a load of 0.24, 0.30, 0.31 at the time of this comment. I've used them for quite some time and have never had a single issue with them. They're also pretty fast to handle support requests. If you're thinking about using them, you can use RYANKEARNEY25 to get 25% off your first invoice. Disclaimer?: I'm not an employee of HostGator, nor have I ever been.
- aith 15y agoI've been with Host Gator for years without issue. Support is good etc. However you will get suspended for excessive usage on those shared 'unlimited' plans. They might have the exact limits in the fine print, or you could ask a live chat assistant.
