To add to all the other responses, multirotors are the least power efficient setup by far. And fixed wing the most, and regular helicopter somewhere in the middle. Several hours of flight time is trivial with a battery powered fixed wing mo

It was the only choice that met the performance constraints at the time. And the common sense at the time did not put too much focus on memory safety.

To be fair 2g is being turned down already with 3g to follow around 2022. They are wasteful in terms of needed frequency/power vs bandwidth.

I would assume Google just shows more ads on other sites to compensate for the fraudent clicks. Why should they give you money back when they can just fulfill their side of the contract by showing ads to non fraudent users.

Almost. Just that it's the OEMs that choose to implement AOSP default privilege scheme to please Google so it gives them access to Play Store and all the other Google apps. IMHO the leverage is all on the OEM side, they just choose to

I think this is classic case of things need to get worse to get better. Things have been good enough for long enough that the incentives for running smoothly and efficiently have eroded away. We are closing in to the bottom where the a rath

Things are changing. If last 4 years has shown us anything, it's that we cannot control the "news" anymore. There needs to be a new solution. And this is a step towards that. Might be the wrong step...

Yes it will not stay in the orbit. And overall the orbital velocity will be significantly lower. However debris ejected sideways will have significant velocity, orbital or sometimes even higher and that's the real risk here.

That is a way more difficult target to hit. People can follow a 3 step instruction easily enough. That's kinda the point that having a single controlling entity makes the ecosystem vulnerable to this kind of pressure.

Good point. Today's world is a grand experiment to find out what is the right balance between stability and privacy. Stability comes with slowing down the progress and the top taking ever so more and getting more corrupt. So there alwa

Should it be Apple's business to police terrorists? Governments have found it convenient to offload policing to communication companies, via putting liability on them unless they do. I don't think this is the way to go.

The trick is that Apple is essentially a utility company and replacing it is a significant expense to the user. And it needs to be aware of it's power and act accordingly. Maybe a "device neutrality" law should be in order. T

The idea is that a client generally contains a copy of the API (it's calling it so it should). So you get a copy of the API with Apache license and are free to build your own implementation of it.

At 5ghz, the signals travel only 4 cm each cycle (signal speed in copper is around 60% lightspeed). Moving stuff further away means waiting multiple cycles for a reply.

Its <3 percent per 1000km if using high voltage DC and multiplicative not additive. So 0.97^(20000/1000)= 0.54. Just under half lost, not infeasible. Also building enough battery capacity to offset the night is doable. UK annual c

Why not? Its just a function of availability/price. Assuming some conservative numbers of 1kwh of batteries costs 100usd and can do 2k cycles, that results in extra 5cents per kwh. With the day/night cycle the utilization could be

Actually yes, since they have a huge incentive to Run to Failure. Chaos monkeys would provide a consistent source of failures to make them do their maintenance. Similar to red teams in security.
