Not buying the access to clean water = less burning of hydrocarbon. The poor people by definition are resource strapped and will use any means of energy available, just for different purpose. On the cynical side: clean water -> less mort

Take a look at Terrament slides. They are driving a train vertically into the ground. With increased depth more cars can be added, increasing total weight, so m = C h and ep =~ C h*h/2

There is no stacked mass however. Just a single piece of mass moving up/down that results in linear scaling from height. Edit: reviewed the Terraent slides they indeed plan to literally drive a mile long train vertically into the groun

Light travels through glass (fiber optics) at 2/3 of the speed in vacuum. So as long as you are skipping some ground links by doing similar length links in space it is faster. Low altitude orbits mean that the hops up and down can be c

If it was composed of solid hydrogen then very little. It would evaporate at slightest touch of a planets atmosphere. Maybe even bounce off it. For solid hydrogen any planet with atmosphere is like a ball of hot molten lava for a snowball.

The bill says Google needs to make available "a list and explanation of the data the digital platform service collects". This is quite ambiguous if it is just a collection policy or the data itself. I can see Google being fired up

The tricky bit here is that for most users the browser is "free" so there is no market to destroy. You need to offer some value added services (like privacy, less ads) to be able to charge for the browser.

This is generally solved by unrolling the program into a single loop. Essentially having a function state(N) => state(N+1), shouldContinue. This exposes the number of iterations needed to finish the computation. That could further be lim

While shady, it's not illegal. Assuming the law said the car is lemon after x repair attempts and Tesla bought it back after x-1 so that lemon law would not apply and they could still resell it.
