Of course source code makes the game better or worse. The game is made of code. The code makes the game what it is. If you write good code, your product will work better and be done sooner. This is the definition of good code. If you write

They can't, so just throw some mathy teacher in there and hopefully the students will more or less teach themselves, and if you're really lucky, each other. That's how every high school CS class I've ever taken has worked. It's not ideal, b

In any sensible OO language (i.e. not C++) all method calls will be virtual, so there is always some sort of dynamic lookup involved.

If there's currently no market, then nobody has anything to lose by letting Google try to create one. The iPad is already pushing them out of the picture, but if the iPad didn't exist then there would be no picture out of which to be pushed

Why did the film adaptation of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH into The Secret of NIMH rewrite the end plot with that stupid mystical jewel-locket-thing? They pretty much rewrote the entire premise of the book. It was originally about l

What was wrong with the MS brand for gaming when Xbox came out? Their OS was practically the exclusive platform for computer games at the time, and that was all they had to do with gaming, so they were neutral at worst.

You could store the map in strings representing, say, 16x16 tiles each. You'll have to replace the entire string when a tile changes, but that shouldn't be a big deal if they are only 256 chars. And you might be able to pack multiple tiles
